2020.09.28 12:01 Business-Complaint-9 MY DYING LAST DAYS, GETTING F****D BY SUDDENLINK!! (Charging Me A Service $60 Fee On The 3rd Time Out, To No Avail Why I Wasn't Getting HS Net, For Him To Tell Me, "IT MAY VERY WELL BE A GHOST OR SOMETHING, BECAUSE A HOME NEARBY WAS A PASTORS WHO HELD FUNERALS THERE IN THE EARLY 1900s)

I was warned about Suddenlink when I moved to WV after losing home in Florida from hurricane. BUT, there really is no other with proper service for HS Internet. First, ordered just low internet. Within hours would get 10-20 texts/emails offering to upgrade. Took deal, $99 for Phone, 2nd Tier Cable 200 Channels and 400 MBPS HS Internet, PLUS $200 Amazon Gift Card offer. Was to be installed between 1 and 4pm. Called at 5pm, told on their way, 6:00 "En Route" 7:30, She hung up on me, 9pm, "Checked w/driver, he is Enroute". Installer didn't get here until a little after 10pm. He said, they told him I was an irate customer that demanded the installation TODAY!... LIED. He installed 2 Altice ONE boxes, both didn't work, he called his Sup. They were here until after 1am. Sup gave him the next day off, I tipped them $30. I then soon realized NONE of my devices were getting more than 35 MBPS Internet. 3 phones, Desk PC, 2 Laptops and I even had people I knew, that had never been here, to enter and log onto WiFi in case we all got a virus. NOPE, No more than 35MBPS. Called and tech came out, once...had no idea, twice, had no idea, three times w/the third so confused he said it MAY BE A GHOST because the house in front was once home to Pastor who held funerals in early 1900s. A GHOST! I then received a $60 fee on my bill for them to come out, yet nothing was fixed. Then on one of the countless calls, the CS Agent said it was because our area couldn't get those speeds! Yet, I was paying for it for NOW 5 months. He said he would have the Tech fee reversed. After calling about the Amazon card once, they told me I had to wait 90 days, second call they said I had to wait six months, third call, they gave me a number to call, number was invalid. Called now in my later part of sixth month, person gave me another number and since the tech fee did not show on my bill, he said he escalated it to priority and said it would be off. NOW, well into my 7th month, after paying all this time for 400MBPS at $99 plus taxes and fees, with the total at first being $120, then slowly each month went up to $146, I called again for the Amazon and the credit and after speaking with 5 people, I was told by one, I wouldn't get a credit for the service call because I didn't sign up for and pay for "Safeline" (Never heard of it, was never offered it, would never have taken it!..if your service doesn't work, WHY would I pay for you to fix something that never worked that you sold me). I was sent to Supervisor who said they didn't even know what Safelline was! Then HE said that I could have gotten the credit but it was now past the second billing cycle since the tech came out and they cant credit past two months! Then asked about Amazon card, got the 5th guy, after all of the others told me that I had to wait 90 days, then it was 120 days, then two different times to call 2 diff numbers, none worked, now THIS person told me this.... and this is really good!.. You ready?...."In order to receive the card, you must pay your first three bills 10 DAYS BEFORE THE DUE DATE"...He didn't say, you I had to pay it within 10 days of the due date, meaning PAST the due date and he he was also telling me, simply PAYING THE BILL ON TIME, meaning 1 day early, 3 days early, 7 days early, which in today's economy and crisis, just paying your bill on time, as long as it's not past the due date should be considered an EXCELLENT payment history, right? NOPE, I had to pay the bill no later than ten days BEFORE the due date!!!! I went back to everything I had, I typed in the phrase in various ways online and nothing came up. I looked at every bill and my contract and receipt I was given both times!...NOTHING. By the way, YES, I am dying. I have Lupus and recently was diagnosed with Stage 4 Melanoma skin cancer and had 1/4 of my torso skin taken off. Because of my Lupus, I am not able to be put under general anesthesia for staples, so they had to sew me with what they call Couch Staples. The cancer as made its way to my spine where I have three tumors and they cant do anything about them. NOW, I am not one to play the sick card, but after calling Suddenlink 18 times, that I kept track of, towards the end (More recent) I would get so frustrated at a different story told, excuse after excuse and LIES, I started letting them in on my other problems. Not that we all dont have some and don't expect special treatment, but I do expect what I paid for, not to be lied to time and time again and be f****d month after month, without even any lube!. At least others have been kind enough to offer THAT!. Yes, I joke, because I have to, but after the final call this week I lost it. When I was told I wasn't getting the card, I let loose, swore, yet never directed it at the person, and I USUALLY do not hold the reps accountable for corporate policies. HOWEVER, there is a point where you see that this company is SOOOO corrupt and that they dish out so many lies and scams, that it must really take a certain kind of person to work at a place like that and can do that to customers. I know some have kids and all that, but EVERY single person I have spoken with has lied, aimlessly uttered something like they cared and apologized, which are simply words on a cue card someone told them to say. I myself could never work at this place, EVER. I could not lie so blatantly to people. Especially when someone is so exhausted after bouncing around for 3 hours and 21 minutes as I had been this past Friday. I told the last guy, who amazingly spoke pretty good English...BECAUSE HE SPOKE IN THE QUEEN'S ENGLISH, as in British. Where HE came from I will never know. I told him Suddenlink and CEO Dexter Goei can "Go Eff themselves" and said I was cancelling as soon as I called AT&T, the only other company with decent internet service. The only other is Frontier, who wouldn't exist if it wasn't for mass exodus of pissed off Suddenlink customers and I heard their service is so bad most end up going back to Suddenlink. Ill just have to suck it up if that's the case. I have had my attorney in Los Angeles, who I admit is my Entertainment Atty and also who is handling my will since I am in the situation I am in with my health, but attorneys go to school and learn all law and then they enter into a certain field, so its not like he is totally not capable of SOMETHING, so he is filing complaints with the FCC and State Comptroller of both WV, NY and IL where their corporate filings and/or assets are kept, which includes Altice and Cablevision. He is also filing some other federal complaints other than the FCC because much of the money comes from and goes back to the company that purchased Suddenlink in 2015, or around then, that are based in France. Ironically, down on one of the street corners near the WV State Capitol Complex in Charleston, which is where I live, there has been a group of people, usually one dressed in a banana costume (Who knows, I guess to get you to look) holding signs about Suddenlink and Class Action Lawsuits filings. In my 53 years, with years that I worked FOR someone in a career position and not just "A Job", I have worked for either telecommunication companies (AT&T, Bell Atlantic and Southern Bell/BellSouth) and also the newly formed at the time because of the breakup of 'Ma'Bell' and being unregulated, with the then ability to diversify from telecommunications, the new AT&T Banking Division out of Jacksonville, Florida launching their new AT&T branded "Universal Card Visa/MC", for which I/We won the Malcolm Baldrige Award, a National award that was given for excellence in customer service. One of the requirements were that you had to have been in business for at least five years. In an unprecedented first, we won the top prize in our SECOND year. We had such high numbers they broke their own rules. AT&T Universal's CEO had the gold award melted down and made into smaller awards for each employee. I say this to show that I KNOW what kind of customer service a company not only should posses to keep customers, but that I also know when it goes beyond that, breaking laws, which they seem to have done quite clearly in my opinion and if the many class action lawsuits have any say. I also ventured into the Banking/Credit Card/Credit Reporting areas as well, including a couple years working late stage collection which even included "Skip Tracing". If anyone knows anything about that, they know that most late stage collectors, 3rd party collections and Skip Tracers, who are more PIs then Customer Service Reps and there are MANY horror stories of what Skip Tracers have done to find a person owing a debt, including calling neighbors, telling them there was a family emergency so they would walk next door to get the debtor to come to their house, only to fund the collector on the phone. Though I worked for a better bank than that, the horror stories I have heard, including repossession companies do not even come CLOSE to the lies and scams Suddenlink as pulled on FOR SURE myself, with proof, and seemingly others besides me in masses. Something needs to be done and until Im dead, I will do a little each day to chip away and warn others. I must get my roommate up for work and make breakfast and their lunch, so I don't have time to edit this for grammar or spelling, as I'm already behind, so my apology for that. Thanks

Citizen Kane
This was my term paper for a college film class I took some years back. I did much research, spoke with Kodak, a cameraman from the shoot, as well as being a camera buff and videographer. I took out the all of photos referenced to save space here, but if anyone likes it and wants the complete piece I'd be happy to send it to you, just let me know. gabriel

A Technical Investigation of Citizen Kane
It’s Not All Black and White
📷 Citizen Kane is considered perhaps the best film ever produced. What does it contain that so many of others missed? I believe it is the imagination and technical expertise of Orson Welles and Greg Toland’s talent cocktail that forged this memorable work. To the right, notice both men on the floor setting up a low angle shot. Welles did very little alone, he was intelligent enough to use “OPB” other people’s brains. The screenplay alone does not stand up well against many other “Great Films,” it is the audio/visual experience created by the use of great techniques in lighting, photography and sound recording which make this film a masterpiece.
Over a period of twenty-five years, I have acquired a great deal of knowledge and experience in the Visual Arts. During this time I worked professionally in film, sound, and video while also enjoying the wonderful art of amateur black and white photography. My resume’ qualifies me to present a case for my thesis and in doing so I will cite technical information which is a part of my knowledge base. This combined with my research, meld into a comprehensive report on the behind the scenes wizardry of an ultra talented group of filmmakers.
📷Like most humans, I experience film through my eyes and ears, always looking deeper, beyond the dialog alone, into the complete experience. Although I hear the famous word “Rosebud” spoken by Kane, it is the atmosphere of the room, and the close up of his mouth, which amplifies the moment.
📷 Orson Welles wrote, directed, and acted in many productions of which Citizen Kane, being his best known, is the film he’ll be remembered. The following is a sampling of other productions Welles wrote, directed and more, except for this first two, written by William Shakespeare. MACBETH, described by Welles as "a violently sketched charcoal drawing of a great play," The magnificent photography by John L. Russel (Psycho) Directed by Orson Welles, and acted by Welles, Jeanette Nolan, DanO'Herlihy, Roddy McDowall, 1948. OTHELLO (production spanned three years) it won the Grand Prize at Cannes. Directed by Orson Welles, With: Welles, Suzanne Cloutier, Micheàl MacLiammoir, Robert Coote, 1952, THE LADY FROM SHANGHAI, Rita Hayworth plays a sultry wife, and includes the legendary hall-of-mirrors shootout finale. Directed and written by Orson Welles, 1947. THE MAGNIFICENT AMBERSONS, Directed and written by Orson Welles, 1942. TOUCH OF EVIL, Directed and written by Orson Welles, With: Heston, Welles, Janet Leigh, Joseph Calleia, Akim Tamiroff, Dietrich, Mercedes McCambridge, Dennis Weaver, 1958 (Starlight News).
After reading the above, it is impossible to overlook Welles as the original film multi-tasker. This man did it all. As a fine actor, writer, and director, it can be argued Welles has a bit of a control issue, but perhaps when you’re as talented as he, it’s not to unusual to not want to place your work or self in another’s hands.
The conductor of light, director of photography Greg Toland was hired from Samuel Goldwym Studios at $700.00 per week (Carringer 69). While at Goldwyn Studios Toland became regarded as one of the most creative cinematographer of the 1930.
His ‘acknowledged brilliance,’ as “American Cinematographer” magazine argued in 1942, placed him in the most nearly ideal position any Director of Photography has since the halcyon days when D.W. Griffith and Billy Blitzer were between them creating the basic techniques of the screen (American Cinematographer).
These accolades and of course the films themselves placed Toland in a position of power when negotiating with producers. Here are some items he requested and received from the producers of Citizen Kane. “RKO was obliged to employ Toland’s regular crew and rent his camera equipment from Goldwyn” (Carringer 69). He demanded these guarantees as an artist, for he had personalized his equipment, his brush, so to speak, to accommodate the style in which he shot. The crew consisting of grips, camera assistants, and gaffes were all a part of Toland’s creative bag of tricks that worked together as a one organism to accomplish the monumental task of producing a film of this caliber. Above all Toland insisted on creative control. This he had become accustomed to at Goldwyn Studios. After much success in his early career, Toland remarked, "I want to work with someone who's never made a movie. That's the only way to learn anything from someone who doesn't known anything”(Walling). He got his chance in 1941 with Citizen Kane on Orson Welles first movie. This team of Toland, and Welles became a creative partnership unsurpassed in movie making history.
There is light and the absence of light, there is shadow, created by infringing on the path of a light. These elements are the two ends of the visual spectrum. White (light), Black (shadow) and by the expected use of them, every lighting situation (in B/W) can be resolved. Mind pictures like these become possible in the right hands. Powerful light driven through small spaces cut like knives on the floor and walls. Soft light pushed through a window or down a hall washes the area like a softly driven snow. The power of this technique is obvious in the shot captured of the Walter Thatcher Library. (right) Nothing is resolved here (can be seen clearly), but it’s not the dialog or the face of the actors the filmmakers are interested in, but the mood set by the absence of light and the rod of light coming from above. Reminiscent of a spiritual setting, the beam of light representing the entrance of the Almighty into the room.
Film is the medium that followed and in some ways took the place of paint, brush, and canvas, first with the snapshot, followed by moving pictures. In 1940 film had its limitations, even today it’s requires an informed photographer to photograph in a variety of settings with equally satisfactory results. Much of what makes an artist great is the length to which they are able to stretch the medium in which they work. This is where Welles and Toland excelled; they stretched the ability of the camera and film to lengths never before attained.
The tone of Citizen Kane is created with light, shadow, and darkness. Photography and light go hand in hand, in fact photography, as we know it, cannot exist without a light source. The way a scene is lit directly affects the resulting print. Film stocks of the late thirties, early forties were “slow” meaning the amount of exposure time (to light) with respect to the quality and resolution of the resulting print is high (long). A “fast” film with a speed of 800ASA or higher can capture an image indoors without a flash or extra lighting in a normally lit room. In 1940 a 100ASA film was considered fast, this film used in daylight would be capable of good exposure, but anything less than daylight would require lights, for a stills, a flash, for moving pictures, stage/motion picture lighting …Big, Hot, sometime noisy lights.
The film used to shoot Citizen Kane was Kodak Super XX, 100ASA which was an “off the shelf” product, that fortunately for Toland had just recently been released. Double X was “Four Times Faster” than its immediate predecessor. Without this timely release Citizen Kane may never have been made. The other variable is the amount of light needed and available, and how much one chooses to expose the film. Exposure time and aperture settings are two variables that determine, to a great extent, whether a scene will appear as bright as a 📷sunny day or full of shadows with the blackest blacks, but only grayish whites. Proper contrast presents itself as balanced if upon examination the black & white negative it exhibits the two extremes represented on the gray scale, black and white. This bias manifests in a photo that is too dark or too light and lacks contrast.
The manipulation of exposure can be seen and studied early in this film. In the scene shot in the projection room, Toland under exposed the film by not using an “average” light setting, (balanced) instead he resolved the streams of light pouring from the projection windows and placed the actors in the shadows. There is nothing wrong with this; in fact, it is exactly what they wanted. The average person taking snapshots of their children would not appreciate their photos turning out in this fashion, but the professional is an artist, and artists create moods and settings with the tools of their art. In film, what we don’t see sometimes makes the shot.
📷 “Camera derives from the Latin word for room or chamber. The camera pre-dates film. The Camera Obscura or “Dark Room,” occasionally seen at scenic locations was, in its original form, a pinhole camera.
The “pinhole’ in the roof could scan the countryside by means of a rotating mirror. The image was focused on a white table in the center if the room and viewed by observers inside the “camera” (Di Guilio).
📷”The Mitchell Camera Corporation began in 1919 as a camera repair and modification shop in Hollywood, as The National Motion Picture Repair Company (Roberts 141). The film was shot with Mitchell BNC cameras (BNC stands for Blimped News reel Camera). The BNC was introduced in 1934 and the first two cameras were sold to Goldwyn Studios in 1934 and 1935. "The first important picture on which they were used was Citizen Kane" (Roberts148) In 1934, this camera made the recording of sound for film feasible. At around 35 dB, the NC was quiet enough for unblimped use in exterior sound filming, as long as the microphone was not near the camera. Later that year the BNC was introduced, the B stood for Blimped. The Blimp is a sound proof housing which surrounded the camera bringing the sound level to a very quiet 21dB! To the average person these numbers mean nothing, even with an explanation of these levels may continue to seem irrelevant. But, take it from a man who spent years on sound stages, in recordings and television studios, the difference is huge; 35dB “decibels” is the sound level in an average home, 21dB is the sound level of a whisper, or rustling leaves. These are logarithmic numbers and the difference is demonstrated by taking the next step up. 70dB is the sound level of freeway traffic and of a vacuum cleaner. The change the “blimped” camera had on motion pictures is immense! (Noise)
The camera’s angle and length of lens create perspective. A long lens creates a voyeuristic feel as if looking in from afar a good example being Hitchock’s Rear Window. A short or wide lens brings the viewer into the scene. Angles are simple to understand.
Considered how you appear to a small child from its playpen? Put yourself in the it’s place, think of its perspective “low” looking up, “wide” larger than life, and somewhat distorted view. This is not a pleasant picture. The baby looking up sees a huge, distorted thing; fortunately babies are innocent and cannot put the ominous nature of their vulnerable scene in perspective. Conversely, the perspective of an adult looking down at a child is like a king from his throne, a feeling of power, not vulnerability. Perspective makes the difference. Even in a situation where those involved are adults as in a courtroom setting, perspective plays a role. In a courtroom, the judge sits up high upon their judgement seat, which forces the defendant to look up. The judge appears large and powerful, while the defendant feels small, powerless, and vulnerable. Above, strong and in control, below, weak and suppliant. Orson, digs holes (right) in floors, through walls, and flies his cameras in the air shooting from different angles, creating different perspectives. A film shot at one level is flat, without flavor and as bland as an unseasoned potato.
📷 Next we explore the topic of “depth of field” (the distance from the object nearest to the camera and the farthest that are in continuous focus) also know as “Deep Focus” The first notable example is from the footage shot in the parlor of Mrs. Kane’s boarding house. In the foreground, mother, father, and Mr.Thatcher
discuss the boy’s future while in the background young Kane is seen through the window, all in perfect focus. Another example is the scene where Kane and his wife are sitting at either end of a long dining table in the huge Xanadu, bigheaded Kane intimidating and distorted (not out of focus) in the foreground, his bored wife, small and insignificant in the distance, both presented in sharp detail.
📷This next frame combines two techniques, “tight composition,” and “deep focus.” Tight composition meaning a quantity of images in a relatively small frame, and deep focus, all the images in frame are in focus. The scene is when Kane walks in on Susan’s singing lesson only to hear “the Maestro,” frustrated and disgusted with Susan’s ineptness, screaming a laundry list of insults at her. Bad timing. Kane in anger reprimands “the Maestro.”
After a few critical viewings, and a quick look at my camera’s dept of field indicator, I estimate the field covered in “the Maestro” frame was approximately 18 inches to 30 feet. Probably an 18mm or 25mm lens was used which has great depth of field when stopped down to F/11 or F/16, these two numbers are aperture setting or f-stops, indicate the size of the hole the camera looks through. The larger the number the smaller the hole, and the great dept of field.
A standard photographers table supplies the following values: for an 18.5mm lens at F/8: 1' 6" to Infinity and for 25mm: 2’ 9" to Infinity. To shoot at these apertures, a 100 ASA film requires 1280-foot candles of light, which is quite high by today’s standards. (A foot-candle is equal to the light ‘one candle’ would illuminate a surface at the distance of one foot.)
The definition of Deep Focus is applicable as a frame of reference in defining Shallow Focus, in which one part of the screen is in focus and the rest blurred, thus directing the viewer's attention to the key element of the action. This was a useful technique, but not an innovation in the1930s, having been used since the early days of film, although much of it’s use was dictated by the limitations of the cameras and films of the time.
An unknown Internet author describes a fancy focus technique.
📷Toland found that extra means were needed to maintain sharpness in certain extremely deep shots. Split-focus lenses and carefully controlled double exposures sometimes turned the trick, but were difficult to set up. One example is in the sequence in which Kane's wife attempts suicide: a glass, spoon and medicine bottle in sharp focus dominate the foreground; the bed is in the middle ground; and figures enter the door in the background. Here the foreground was lighted and photographed first, with the rest of the scene in darkness. Then the foreground was silhouetted and the background was lighted and shot in focus on the same film. (Sharp Practice)
Film is the medium that in some ways followed and took the place of paint, brush, and canvas. First came the snapshot, followed by moving pictures. To this day film has limitations, but in 1940, they were manifold. Much of what makes an artist great is the length to which they stretch the medium in which they work. This is where Welles and Toland excelled; they stretched the ability of camera, film, and light to lengths never before attained.
📷Before the making of Citizen Kane sound stages and film sets were open ceiling. A lot went on just above the frame, all of it unseemly, and needed to be hid, things such as; microphones, (big ugly microphones on booms with cables hanging) and other equipment that hung from the usually high ceiling sets. This open ceiling arrangement prohibited the camera from tilting (a vertical pan) any higher than the top of a room’s wall. Toland and Welles had no desire to repeat the same old shots seen hundreds of times before. They figured a way to work around this problem. They created ceilings with muslin, now microphones and the like were hidden above this “new ceiling.” This permitted Toland to shoot from the floor, (right) actually from a hole in the floor without thought of running out of wall. Note all that ceiling showing.
📷This took the bit from Toland’s mouth, freeing him to point the camera wherever his heart desired. The frame pictured to the left is an extraordinary example for three innovations are demonstrated in one shot: covered ceilings, a low angled perspective and deep focus. Fantastic!
Who says you have to be high tech to be innovative? Artists dislike restraints, when set free, they fly high. Freedom brought us this wonderful film.
The sound on Citizen Kane encompasses dialog, sound effects, and the musical score. In reverse order, Bernard Herrman scored the film, and later went on to compose the music for other great movies, including Psycho and Taxi Driver (who can forget that sax?). Welles brought with him from radio a keen ear and an understanding of sound effects. These effects augmented the film, but were not overpowering as in some films today. One example of his subtle usage is noted by Robert Carringer. “. . . such as the typewriter heard in extreme close-up when Kane is finishing the opera review and the musical accompaniment to the light bulb that dims to signal the faltering of Susan’s singing career”(100). I’ve recorded many sound tracks for video and television and I don’t envy the task assigned to the engineers in charge of this film. Even when recording a simple spot, I used more and better equipment than the entire sound crew of Citizen Kane.
In their process . .
. . . there are two separate and distinct sound operations, each presided over by a different sound engineer. One engineer is in charge of the sound recorded during the production. His chief assistant is the operator of the boom – a microphone slung from a long metal rod and suspended above the actors’ heads (Carringer 102).
Considering the task of a “boom operator” under ordinary circumstances was difficult, on Welles’ set there were times it must have been close to impossible. Because of the muslin ceilings the operator had a much more difficult time properly placing the microphones above the actors.
Once recorded, then it went into post production, and into the hands of James G. Stewart, a sound contractor who work on some of the most famous theaters in America, including Radio City Music Hall, before moving to California and joining RKO. He was in charge of postproduction, in those days called “rerecording,” today mixing and overdubs.
📷In the late thirties one could not go to a local sound store and buy whatever your budget allowed, these sound engineers, were just that, “engineers,” and if they needed something they’d design and build it. The crude two-man mixing console shown here is a “one off,” built for RKO under Stewart’s direction. Prior to this point in the process, the audio is dry (no effects, or processing) it’s during the “rerecording” process that echo, reverb, effects, and overdubs are inserted and mixed. Sound persons rarely get much glory, but without them, the public might still be watching silent films (Carringer 102-3).
In closing, Citizen Kane is a technical milestone in movie making, although I find the screenplay depressing. This tale of a boy removed from his family, given an education and all the money he could ever need (so one would think). Who grows into an idealistic, generous, and kind man, who had plans to change the world, but instead the world changed him, and for that, he hates the world and himself in return. The final scene, reveals his true heart, one, once so soft, now, hardened and broke. Calling to the heavens, spoke his final word “Rosebud” the name of a sleigh he once owned, so long ago, before fate stepped in and killed the boy. When Kane spoke, “Rosebud” he was not only calling out the name of a child’s toy, no, he was calling out to the life he left behind which contained that sleigh. The life he never had the chance to live.

2020.09.27 18:16 Electronic_Stomach88 Narc story

41 now and found out I was raised by a narcissistic mother at 39. Her gaslighting while at my job and about my 10 year old daughter who I have raised since 2 years old gave me a mental breakdown. It first started 5 years ago when she wanted to control the exchanges between me and ex wife. She Drug her with her car 40 feet according to police report and blamed it on me when I wasn’t even there. When I first got divorced 7 years ago, she assured me that they were going to help me get on my feet and out of debt so I could live a nice life. However, because of my non compliance she kicked me and daughter out before I could get on feet and sale house. Her punishment caused me increased expenses and led me to bankruptcy.
I was highly successful in a field where Credit was important and not only did she leave me hanging and bankrupt, I had to sell everything of value to pay another attorney for bankruptcy while going through expensive divorce which often times left me scraping change together to feed my kid.
I forgot to mention my parents are rich btw. I rose to the occasion and eventually even landed a higher paying job than her after recovering from the Bk and divorce.
The whole time she had a Private Detective taking pictures of me from across the street and had family members drive by and when I would ask she would say I was just paranoid.
She would call the police on me frequently if I didn’t answer her calls. This was the beginning of a long journey to figuring out what she was up to as I was 33 when the stalking started. She would even manipulate my own friends to say they needed a place to stay and pay them money to report back.
Fast forward a few years. I end up with my dream job making more money than her. She quickly would demean me and say I don’t deserve it. After two years on the job I had saved up enough money to buy my own house and told her I was moving closer to work which was further from them. She became enraged and said she wouldn’t be around to help with my kid when I traveled and I said that’s your choice.
One day I get home from a business trip to meet a CPS worker at my house. The worker interviewed me and ex wife and recommended moving further away from her even though they can’t tell u who did the complaint. In the report it said I was paranoid. Yes I actually was because my mom had betrayed me and put me and my family through undo stress by making false CPS report.
It took 6 months to close out. She had also threatened to kill me when I told her I was moving and she meant it. I bought my dream house in a gated community 45 minutes away from her with 24 hour security only to find out she was trespassing, having detective video my daughter and I outside and I was like well I’m not doing anything wrong so what am I gonna do.
I tried to avoid confrontation with her because it would be screaming and her making threats to take my kid from me. I even have a text where she said she would get me fired from my job after gaslighting me at work.
It was so embarrassing I just dealt with it. I then met the girl of my dreams who advised me that was not normal and she wanted me to be happy because she could see that I was shaken every time I would answer her calls. I had been setting up boundaries over the years and didn’t rely on them for anything.
I wouldn’t ask them for anything at all no matter how bad it hurt. Eventually an estranged friend who I had not had contact with for a year reached out to me and said he needed a place to stay. He started wearing my clothes, eating my food, and refused to get a job. It was like single white female the movie.
Immediately my gf said he wants your life! He always seems to be keeping tabs on my parenting and added to my stress level. The abuse from her had been bad lately because now we had been successful living away from her for almost two years and I was now engaged. This caused a big strain on my now fiancée and mine engagement and we got into an argument and we were supposed to fly to NY the next day to get married. Oh also my daughter came home with a phone charger from her and it was plugged in my bedroom. I was looking at it and it flashed at me. I took the top off to find out it was a hidden camera. I spoke with one attorney about legal action but my fiancée and everyone talked me out of suing my mom. She said it was a gag gift and admitted to it in writing.
More bizarre stalking kept happening and this really started to get to my nerves. I wished i had sued her because i ended up getting drunk at my own house and was depressed because my fiancé was not gonna go to NY and get married. Anyways i made some dark comments in front of some neighbors who didnt know me that well about dark depressing things.
Then i go inside my house alone because i had agreed for her to watch my kiddo while on business trip, and my fiancé calls and says to come outside. I walk outside and see lasers pointed at her head and a swat team in my driveway. She told me to take my shirt of so i did and they focused the guns on me.
My house backs up to a busy road and there was a loud noise. Those neighbors had called the police thinking i s**t myself and my fiancé showed up with bags packed to go to NY. I more than cooperated and agreed to let them search my house to look for , casings and evidence so they could try to put me in jail. Man I wish I would have gone to jail. At least I could have been bailed out in the morning. They found nothing because there was nothing to be found. I even let them search my truck. The supervisor told my fiancée that they cant leave me alone with the allegations but couldn't charge me with a crime.
They asked if i would be willing to go to hospital for 24 hours and i thought they were talking about the ER. My fiancée gracefully talked me into it because she had no desire to vouch for me if I did what they said and I do not blame her for it in the moment. I would’ve been scared to vouch for someone based on the narrative they wrote about me so I agreed and was handcuffed with a young officer banging the barrel of a glock up against my head like i was a threat his boss told him to back off and he even admitted that he wanted to off me because his adrenaline was pumping. He’s also the same jerk that got to drive me to the hospital and write a non criminal story about me that would forever alter my life. I got treated and abused by them at my own house. I’ve handled as many wrong doings that have transpired here as possible but next everyone keeps telling me to hire another lawyer for the police violating my civil rights. There’s also video footage. I don’t want to sue everyone but I feel like if I don’t handle things it will just continue to happen and I have managed to become pretty strong and resilient over the years of abuse. It actually drove me to excel in careeer but screwed me on relationships. To sue the city I live in or not is the big question???
I get in the car and find out he was taking me to a mental hospital. I was so mad when I got there because I knew I needed to get cleared to get out. I just knew that I was only intoxicated and that the doctor would let me out ASAP. Well I used my one chance to convince the doc to let me out while I was intoxicated and enraged for being in a mental ER. It was like jail and I knew I was not crazy. I barely drank and drank that night to numb my pain. Little did I know the seriousness of what the police said about me. So I made the decision to be involuntarily there thinking I would get a mental health court date in 24 hours. Finally when my permanent doctor was assigned to me, he was a perfect match BTW and one of the best in America. The nurse who had to inject me into a coma because I tried to escape turned out to be my best ally. He would come tell me stories every night about other people trying to escape. I just thought it was a hospital and I was there voluntarily but being intoxicated didn’t help. Him and another guy put me into a temporary coma next to 50 other people that were in recliners. I actually needed that to calm down and sleep but I didn’t understand that it was going to prolong my stay because the doctors saw that as aggression. I learned a lot about being in the hospital. The two intake nurses including the male nurse made sure that I got transferred to their floor because they saw that I just had a bad night and wanted me to get out ASAP. At first I wasn’t taking the antidepressants but quickly learned that the Physchiatrist can tell if your own them or not because you more subdued when you see them everyday and they tell u that u getting out tomorrow which never happens and adds an element of crazy. The male nurse that had to subdue me put me on his floor and bunked me up with one of the scariest patients they had that suffered from skizo and became violent because someone ate his apple.
The female nurse I had brought me the information about the mental health court. Then I met with my doctor the next morning and he was like u got to sign in voluntarily because If u go to that court they aren’t even gonna let you speak and go off the police report and it would be a minimum of two months and they would make me a ward to the state? I was like what the hell? I knew I didn’t belong there but then my doc explained to me that he kinda has to go slow on letting me out too bec of the seriousness of what the police wrote about me even though they weren’t there to witness the alleged incident. I started to just relax and take the meds so I could get out. Still on PTSD meds today to be compliant but honestly I had a bad hangover night and I was amazed at the support I got from the staff and nurses in there.
Everyday the nurses would be like you still getting married? I said The sooner I get out the more likely for me to fix this. All in all it took 7 days for the doc to be able to justify letting me out. I would have been out in 24 hours and had 0 destruction to my life had the police not made up such a detailed story about the series of events that they did not witness or find evidence to confirm. I mean FML. Even the trained doc had to diagnose me with a serious depression to get me out and cover his but because what that one rookie guy who wanted to shoot me wrote about me and was all fictional. I mean even the neighbor witnesses just put that I said I was depressed and they invited me to go to Church and they were actual witnesses.
The biggest most costly misunderstanding of my life. But you know what. Life was a living hell for almost two years, ruined Credit, lost car, applied for food stamps but got denied because my ex wife already got them for the daughter that doesn’t live with her. It’s just been a tough go in general. I mean when I first got divorced my daughter was only two and I would have to take her in ladies restrooms out of cleanliness Because nobody had that about the Dad yet and that wasn’t long ago, I was awarded child support but don’t receive a dime and don’t care because I had always figured things out on my own anyways. I feel mostly horrible for my daughter whose lifestyle has been altered with all this drama. The judge has now ordered a physchiatrist at $250 per hour chosen by my daughter’s court appointed attorney whose decisions have shifted towards favoring my mom. The only reason I gave in on agreeing to have that is because my mom could filed something if I didn’t agree that was some sort of loophole that would have dropped my kid right in her lap.
A 10 year old girl is basically like a 12 year old these days and my daughter has been happy being poor and never wants to see her nana again. I mean mom wouldn’t even allow her to call me on the phone that I pay for and the poor girl was being brainwashed. Every time we go to court it’s like the judge says 30 minutes and my moms 4-5 attorneys and experts hog up the docket with slanderous things about me even before I had a kid like stuff that happened in my twenties and then the judges doesn’t have time to really listen to what is going on. I have told my attorney I’m just gonna go on local news Because this is a high powered legal kidnapping. My attorney response is well I will withdraw from your case if u do that. I mean CPS gave me a clean bill. The main problem with my daughter’s attorney now is that I stayed with a friend for a few months because this person I call mom spewed her venom in my relationship which caused issues. I absolutely do not blame her for dumping especially when there were flying monkeys taking pictures of her house and they even followed her to work thinking it was me. She stuck by me for almost two years like a champ.
We all thought as soon as CPS closes the case that we would be able to live a nice quiet life. Well now after two years in hell everything has started clicking now that I’m back under my own roof. I left all furniture with ex and told her I was starting over without know where I would get the money to buy new stuff. I got a small settlement for the employment issue because I had no desire to take it to trial and once again I would talk to attorneys about my slam dunk case, and they weren’t interested in paying attention to the Rock Solid evidence I had. They just wanted $4,000 up front and didn’t even think I would get anything so I decided to handle it on my own and file my own complaints because I had no more money for another attorney I have learned the hard way that the hallmark of a good attorney is one you explain to them once or send to them once and they remember everything you told them in court. Like my mom even gets away with perjury where I have factual data to discount her lies. She has spent her whole life calling me a con, and nothing but a liar because sometimes with a serious narcissist with physcopathy it’s just easier to tell them what they want so u don’t get abused. But overall, I’m probably one of the most honest people and far from a con you can meet. You have to have Character in my career and always be ethical but she would call me that envious of my job and that I made more money than her with less schooling. My college days were rough because my mom would constantly be like I’m not gonna pay for your school so I would take that seriously and just start working full time.
I guess with me working so young that is the benefit Because I’m now a seasoned vet in business. Through all this adversity and with her interference, a competitor jumped all over me and I will be back to normal as far as my career. I’ve been making the salary I made 20 years ago doing a more entry level job which has served its purpose. I’ve never been one to give up on jobs. I felt like when I was living with my fiancée she kept doubling her salary and would put pressure to where I would just self destruct when I would have a good job interview. Plus most people can smell desperation. On top of that she started like competing applying for same jobs I already had interviews for which really brought out an ugly side of me and I would say that was a pivot point for the toxicity that started spewing. I felt so small and she felt so in charge because she was paying all the bills on her own for the first time in her life. Even though I had a good 20 years experience on her she started getting really competitive with me and when I would let her know that it reminded me of how my mother would act, she would minimize me and say don’t be such a victim. What she failed to understand is I was still healing and she was setting me back.
When she abruptly said she was done and kicked my daughter and I to the streets knowing that I had hardly any money and had ruined my credit so couldn’t rent anything, I was so hurt, she went silent and refused to give me closure or even tell me that what we had was real. She had done me just as my mom had and discarded me. I do take responsibility though because I think with all the toxic shit we were dealing with she was just over it. I used to hide my issues with my mom from her but she insisted that she was strong enough to help me get in a better space. Looking back the over sharing of court custody evidence had changed her into what reminded me of my mom. I knew certain things I should’ve kept to myself but she had me convinced that we were gonna work through it all together and I would actually get in trouble by her in passive aggressive ways with silence if I got caught withholding something from my personal stuff from her. It sad what me and my narcissist mother ruined. She was the best mentally and physically until our bullshit just broke her. I was so shocked that I lost that. I am a very loyal companion and outside of my ex, that I was married to for 12 years, I never would settle down because I knew what I was looking for and it took me 5 years of bad dates and terribly matched relationships to find her. I know though too that she is gonna be hard pressed to find a stronger man like me that can totally rebuild his life after blowing it up in less than two years. There were plenty of times I just wanted to give up but I didn’t for what I was told was my wife and new family. Patience I suppose is a virtue and I haven’t come up with the strength to start dating again. It might be years.
It’s just sad that I fully recovered but took longer than she or me wanted and the only thing I really lost is her who was a unicorn when she loved me. I’ll never forgive myself for letting mine and my moms venom ruin my family future.
But, I have to move forward and adjust to being alone again and I think I’m getting there. Moving forward after no contact is the only direction to go. Don’t let bs bog you down. I always knew that I was gonna get back to the person that she fell for and respected. It just took a little longer. So I have decided even if that opportunity comes back around as there is a little hoovering with her, I’m gonna politely decline because I no longer want to live in the past and I feel that if she was my person she would have stuck it out 6 extra months. Life will be good and I finally feel like I’m recovering and my moms lawsuit no longer even gets under my skin. I hope this story helps some of you. I’m of the opinion that my mom is much more extreme like a Narc with physcopathic tendencies but she will never be diagnosed. I’m sure what I’ve written will help someone some day because I had searched the internet and spoken to specialist and nobody could give me examples or really relate to this mother son relationship.
She always used to spank me ground me, I tried to run away as a kid, and she would even kick me out of our nice suburban house as a kid and let me walk to the nearest pay phone to call my dad. Then she would real me back in with like stiff I wanted. Looking back what I was really doing was standing up to her at a young age because her behavior was unacceptable so it would make me rebel worst. I ended up going to a prestigious college and finishing what my mom took away from me over and aver at nights when I was 30. She wouldn’t even go to my graduation or acknowledge that I went there and paid for it on my own Because I reckon she was envious that it was like Ivy League compared to her school. I wasted so many years thinking my relationship with her was normal.
The best thing to do with a Narc like her is no contact. My life has been very stressful but I do t think I would’ve made it trying to fix everything and being gaslighted by her everyday. I’ve learned that friends can be family because she also turned my whole family against me. I don’t understand why even my own dad who used to be married to her doesn’t have a spine enough to say “you’ve done enough to our only son” everyone in my family is owned some way by her except me. I have always been a good man of good character and have always been brave enough to take my beating or whatever to stand my ground. It does get better with no contact and I think I’m even stronger now than I was before and I’m much more emotionally healthy. So eventually I plan on finding my last wife and being the best me I’ve ever been.
Just because this happened to you and you are discovering it, I would recommend keeping dialogue with people that don’t have this issue to a minimum to avoid being labeled as a victim. You tell someone how you feel and you teach them how to do emotional blackmail on you. Only share with people your sure about. Always remember after healing process and discovery of the disorder that you must come out of that space of being a victim otherwise your forward progress will be stuck. Always keep moving forward and trying 120% even when people kick u while your down and I promise life will get better but I hones hope nobody has to do this. It is especially dangerous standing up for yourself with wealthy narcs but it’s also rewarding that u are your own person and I don’t give a shit that I’ve been written out of the will. I just wanted a normal mom my whole life not money and she never cared to listen.
I only told my roommate and asked he not tell my mom so I can figure this out on my own. My gut was telling me that something was going on and she was plotting for this moment to try and take my kid. Well my so called friend and roommate told my mom, told me he emailed my work, after 7 months and an Investigation I found out he didn’t, and even supposedly drafted and printed a copy of the email when he picked me up driving my truck that he decided to clean to his liking and wearing my best clothes.
I was in there 7 days. Also immediately upon turning on my phone I received a text from boss as if they knew I was being released that moment. My mom was my emergency contact because I was single. Boss says we been concerned and I send letter from hospital and then I get referred to HR and they asked if I received a Letter. I told them no I’m on way from hospital.
I get home to a termination letter. I was adjusting to meds and under the impression that roomie had sent the email he assured me he sent. Once home, my ex had been there watching kid and daughter came home saying CPS came to visit her at school. Then minutes later, a lady with a badge was at my door and threatened to take my kid immediately if I didn’t find someone to supervise me. My fiancée had broken up with me the day before getting out, my so called friend all the sudden had money and was spending time at moms which was off and if CPS needed to be called the police would have done that automatically but I didn’t have my kid. I didn’t trust anyone. I finally told my mom what happened and she played like no big deal there’s plenty of jobs and get better. Well come to find out she filed a false police report the day before I got out saying I was gonna get another and do something crazy which prompted the Police to call CPS. I told the lady that she could go to moms for a month for summer while she worked through her investigation. So in the moment the roomie and childhood friend who I trusted my whole life became my supervisor. I noticed how he wasn’t rattled by this as if he had expected. He quickly started staying with my mom which was weird and she essentially made him me. However, he’s not the type that responds to people like that well. Much more passive. So I automatically assumed that he’s the one that called them. By Christmas he literally escaped from her clutches and hat sent me an email recanting his written testimony and was living in a Van in Wal Mart Parking lot living off peanut butter. The empath in me kicked in and I started to go visit him in the parking lot. One day we were out and fiancée said let’s go see him and record him. We recorded all the stuff he told us that contradicted everything. He tried to continue to play me by not telling me important details he knew. He would say it just makes his muscles tense to talk about it but then ask me to buy him a burger. Well come to find out it was him and her that made sure family services came out according to new stuff discovered. I mean how much can u mess with a persons brain. I would gladly take a punch in the face any day over emotional blackmail. I guess since he felt so noble to do that to me I felt it was only the proper thing to do to report him for some crimes he made me aware of. When she got that audio where he’s says that she offered him like $200k to do this to me she sent it to him and he confronted me about it and was acting squirrelly as if he was still trying to play both sides. I explained to him that I just took out an insurance policy on him so he can’t just run back for the money. You can tell he was devastated. She was even paying his child support for him to keep him out of clink and offered to pay $10k to fix his rotten teeth and bought me suits. Anyways I blocked him and will no longer talk to him again. No contact with the flying monkey!!!
Mom was Banking on CPS placing her with her but they didn’t. When I got kid back she told me that mom said I didn’t love her, tried to enroll her in school, and offered to buy anything. And said she should have aborted me. The investigation was closed with no findings, I’m now unemployed and mom says she didn’t talk to my employer. We then agreed to CPS to do services and they believed my daughter and I about mom and gave me counseling for all the abuse she had done to me and told me to keep my kid away from her.
As the dust started to settle, I started waiting tables, then got a job but got fired because someone called up there and said I was a child abuser. I then filed unemployment who the referred me to DOL for Possible FMLA issue.
Almost a year goes buy, my fiancée and I are now living in her house because I could no longer afford mine and rented it out. I had my car reposssesed and mom even offered me $20k for kid in writing for which I said nope.
She became increasingly angry and then decided to sue me for custody all while I had just started working an entry level job. She makes up all sorts of hearsay lies, pays my old roomie to write a affidavit that was false and now going on year two of a suit. My fiancée had enough after the drama and toxicity it brought into our relationship and I found myself without anywhere to go until a friend offered to rent a room.
Judge has not given her any visitation but she has 4 attorneys racking up my 1. She is now going to trial. All her stuff is slander, untrue, and not factual. I don’t understand why it hasn’t been thrown out. I have factual evidence to discredit her lies. I even went to police report to hold her acccountable for cams she put in my house but police said no crime and would even let me show them the devices because it was my mom.
My roomie took my daughter’s dog that I paid $3k for on her 8th bday to moms and she says it hers under oath even though I have receipts. She tells people im dead and even contemplated have a funeral on Facebook for me!!!
She told me I should have just off myself. All these years she had been attempting to build a case on me to take my kid. Per now former employer she spoke with them and I have in writing. I cannot believe that everyone seems to believe her side of this diabolical story. My kid and I have been almost two years no contact. I even told the police she threatened to kill me and they were like that might very well happen.
Restraining order denied. This is truly one of the most diabolical nRc stories out theirs.have much more but too long already

2020.09.25 20:35 Rsubs33 [Game Preview] Week 3 - Cincinnati Bengals (0-2) at Philadelphia Eagles(0-2)

Cincinnati Bengals (0-2) at Philadelphia Eagles (0-2)
The Eagles are off to their worst start with a real coach since 2003 (I consider 2013-2015 non-existent) when they also dropped their first two games of the season. The team would like a repeat of that season where following a week 3 bye,the team rebounded to defeat the Bills 23-13. The Eagles ripped off 12 wins in their remaining 14 games following their 0-2 start. Maybe the Eagles will be able to do the same, but they will have to shake the injury bug first. The Eagles will be without first round pick Jalen Raegor this week who underwent surgery on his hand to repair a torn UC ligament in his thumb. The Eagles may also be without Fletcher Cox who is dealing with an oblique injury. The Cox injury should be watched closely if he can’t go, Joe Mixon and Joe Burrow will have a much easier day against the struggling defense. Last week against the Rams, the defense was under prepared and unable to stop anyone. The Rams took advantage of Jim Schwartz’s consistently odd decision to have his CBs, play so far off the line of scrimmage, giving a free release to the WRs and allowing easy short passes. If Schwartz does the same this week, it will be another long day for the Eagles defense and a great fantasy day for Tyler Boyd, who Bengals Joe Burrow connected with 7 times last week including 1 for a TD. On the other side of the ball Doug and Carson will both need to be better than the last two weeks. For Carson, he needs to get out of his own head and play with confidence. For Doug, he needs to find some creativity and help his 5th year QB. He would do well to get Carson moving and utilize the RBs more in the flat and screen game. However, if we see more of the same we saw in weeks 1 and 2 from the Eagles coaching staff, we should expect another loss. Hopefully that is not the case and Carson and the coaches can learn from their mistakes in weeks 1-2 and pull our a win this week. Go Birds!

Recap from Last Week’s Games.
Eagles - The Eagles' struggles continued in their home opener against the Los Angeles Rams. An early fumble by Miles Sanders led to a Rams touchdown by Tyler Higbee. After the Eagles cut their deficit to four with a Jake Elliott field goal, Los Angeles responded with a Robert Woods touchdown run followed by a second Higbee touchdown catch. Trailing 21-3, the Eagles closed the deficit to five points by halftime with touchdown runs by Wentz and Sanders. After forcing a three-and-out on the Rams' first possession of the second half, the Eagles would drive to the Los Angeles 21, only for Wentz's first down pass to be picked off by Darious Williams, turning the momentum back in the Rams' favor as they would outscore the Eagles 16-3 the rest of the way. Despite not being sacked once during the game, Wentz finished the day with a 56.5 passer rating, completing 26 of 43 passes for 242 yards and two interceptions. The 37-19 blowout loss dropped Philadelphia to 0-2 for the first time since the 2015 season, and marked the Eagles' first home opener loss since that same season. It was also the first home loss to the Rams franchise since the opener of the 2001 season.
Bengals - After losing their regular season-opening game at home, the Bengals then traveled to Cleveland to face the Browns for Battle of Ohio Round 1. In the first quarter, the Bengals scored first when Randy Bullock kicked a 38-yard field goal to make it 3-0. Though, the Browns took the lead when Nick Chubb ran for an 11-yard TD to make it 7-3. In the second quarter, the Browns went up by double digits when Baker Mayfield found O'dell Beckham Jr. on a 43-yard TD pass to make it 14-3. The Bengals then came within 4 after Joe Burrow found C.J. Uzomah on a 23-yard TD pass to make it 14-10. Mayfield then found Kareem Hunt on a 6-yard TD pass to put the Browns up by double digits, 21-10. The Bengals closed out the half when Randy Bullock kicked a 43-yard field goal to make it 21-13 at halftime. In the third quarter, the Browns went back up by double digits when Chubb ran for a 1-yard TD to make it 28-13. The Bengals drew closer with Bullock's 27-yard field goal to make it 28-16. In the fourth quarter, the Bengals were able to get within 5 when Burrow found Mike Thomas on a 4-yard TD pass to make the score 28-23. Though, the Browns would go back up by double digits yet again when Hunt punched the ball in for a 1-yard TD to make it 35-23. The Bengals wrapped up the scoring when Burrow found Tyler Boyd on a 9-yard TD pass to make the final score 35-30.

Stats to Know
QB Adjusted Completion %
What’s one thing rookie Joe Burrow and 5th-year Carson Wentz have in common? They have not been terribly accurate so far. PFF has an Adjusted Completion % stat that accounts for clear drops, spikes, throw aways, batted passes, and throws made while getting hit. Burrow and Wentz are near the bottom in AC%, with 70.4 and 70.3, respectively. Interesting to note a bit of the distribution within the array of aforementioned stats: while Burrow has had one of the lower rates of on-target passes dropped by the receiver (4.1%), Wentz doubled that at 8.4%, good for 5th-highest. Yes, Wentz has stunk, but...
Matchups to Watch
Rookie versus Veteran, Which QB Has Poise Down 0-2?
With two consecutive weeks of porous defense from both the Eagles and Bengals defensive units, this Sunday's matchup should rest squarely on the shoulders of each offensive unit. Will the Eagles be able to rely on fifth year starter Wentz? Will he be able to shake off two tumultuous weeks and put together a consistent offensive performance? Will the Bengals weapons coalesce around their rookie Burrow? Will he be able to put together his first complete NFL game and demonstrate that this season is the turning point for the franchise? A big piece of Wentz stabilizing his game time performance will be continuing his focus on short-time-to-throw plays. From Week 1 with 8 sacks versus the Washington Football Team to Week 2 and zero sacks versus the Rams with the vaunted Aaron Donald, the Eagles Offensive Line and Wentz’ pocket choices resulted in less lost yards and broken plays. Unfortunately, key turnovers again forced short-yardage scoring situations and massive tempo swings. Wentz needs to take advantage of the cleaner pocket that will likely be available versus the Bengals (2 sacks on the year so far) and finish drives cleanly to put the game away. Without rookie WR Jalen Reagor (placed on IR with a thumb injury after Week 2), Wentz will have to make use of the remainder of his threats, including veteran DeSean Jackson who had 6 catches on 9 targets for 64 yards against the superior Rams’ defensive backfield. Joe Burrow has had the classic introductory NFL QB experience. A high-flying game versus the Browns last week, with 300+ yards passing, 3TDs and zero ints was fantastic bounce back from Week 1 versus the Chargers. 193 yards, 0 TDs, and an int will not win the game for the Bengals versus the Eagles, even if Wentz struggles. A key focus for Burrow will be settling into the routine and relationships he’s formed with his offensive weapons. AJ Green remains one of the best WR threats in the NFL and his slow start to the season (8 catches for 80 yards) could end at any time, in any game with a QB like Burrow. Burrow threw a nearly record setting number of passes during the almost-come-from-behind loss versus the Browns; if the Bengals are able to establish their run-game and abuse the Philadelphia secondary in a similar way to the Rams offensive scheme, then Burrow could have a very big day. If he is forced to drop back 60+ times, and Joe Mixon is again held under 75 yards on the ground, the Bengals and Burrow may have a hard time. Keep an eye on how comfortable each QB is feeling, and whether they can establish good tempo. That will be key to offensive production this weekend.
Coaching Conundrum; Pederson versus Taylor
At the core of the NFL these days is the combat between offensive and defensive schemes. Both coaches come from a background of coaching QB play and offensive schemes, though from different eras and coaching trees. How they go about using that experience to enable their teams to a secure a necessary win this week will make or break their seasons. Doug Pederson, at the helm of a revamped offensive coaching tree with the addition of Quarterbacks Coach Press Taylor as Passing Game Coordinator, has had a rough three year stretch of offensive stumbles. Since the miraculous Super Bowl 52 season (2017), the Eagles have consistently failed to be productive, with a lot of the challenges relating to lack of roster depth and poor player improvement through misaligned coaching. This is the third consecutive year of stuttering offense to begin the season and a big piece of the matchup versus the Bengals will be how well the Eagles can settle in. Coach Pederson has made it clear that the lack of full-speed off-season practice plays a big role in the Eagle’s struggles so far; so it remains to be seen when and if both units can make use of this gametime practice to solidify the small flashes of prior success we’ve seen. Opposite Pederson is Coach Taylor, in his second year of a complete rebuild, now with the (ideally career-long) franchise WB in Burrow. Hailing from the Shanahan line, through the LA Rams McVay, Taylor was brought into Cincinnati to recreate the organization’s coaching structure and form a new core for the team around veteran WR AJ Green. The 2019 season showed marked improvement throughout, particularly in run production and passer protection; the addition of Covid-related practice limitations have also taken their toll on the Bengals’ preparations for this season, as exemplified by the Week 1 drubbing by the Ravens. Taylor returns this season with second-year offensive coordinator Brian Callahan, formerly the QB coach for the Raiders. The cerebral talent in the Bengals organization is clearly arrayed around giving Burrow the best possible chance to shine; and they may just do so against an extremely poorly performing Eagles defense. Being able to establish consistent offensive strength and consistency throughout this season will be a key part of whether this new coaching structure is able to flourish in Cincinnati or if yet more change is needed to remake the franchise. During game day, keep an eye out on how these coaches make use of their star players, now that the very early season yips and stumbles should be behind them. Whoever can appropriately adjust to the flow of the game and take advantage of the others mistakes will win this football game.
The Big Punt: How Special Teams Makes An Impact
Kevin versus Cameron, Huber versus Johnston, two players that may very well decide the nature of this Bengals versus Eagles matchup. These titans of the turf, two punters to rule them all, and two punters to pin them deep; two punters waiting on call, and two punters to make fans weep. In lieu of offensive production, and in hopes of good defensive play, Kevin Huber and Cameron Johnston bring their punting prowess to Lincoln Financial Field this Sunday. Hailing from opposite sides of the Earth, Huber from Cincinnati itself, and Johnston from Geelong Australia, these two are some of the most capable foot-based deliverers of the football to opposing teams. Huber holds nearly all of the Bengals franchise records in punting statistics; and Johnston holds the highest gross and net punting averages in a single Eagles season. The third year Australian punter is known by Eagles fans for his insanely long hang-time and penchant for pinning the NY Giants inside the 20 (20+ times in four games). Huber is loved by the Bengals fanbase as both their longest tenured player and his consistency over the past 13 years. He has missed just 2 of 180 possible games, and has been perennially top 10 at his position. Both players are in the final year of their contracts, so effective performance is a must for maximum salary gains. Keep an eye out on how effective these two are in establishing and keeping good field position. If both teams are struggling for consistency, these swings may be the key to a late drive that puts the game away. Additionally, with every punt comes the magic of a muffed punt return. If you’re a particular connoisseur of special teams play, watch and see if these punters add any special spin or location to their strikes; and key turnover last week in this position kept the Eagles hopeful. Maybe lightning will strike twice for the Eagles Special Teams and the Wizard with the Large Leg, Cam Johnston; maybe the Bengals gunners will scoop up a muff and Huber will be huger than expected. Stay tuned!

Section Four: The nitty gritty
Monday:
8:30AM: I wake up and make coffee out of my two year old coffee maker. I use trader joe’s light roast ground coffee. I finish the last of the oat milk. I need to pick up more milk/milk substitute.
9:00AM: Work. I can’t tell if I’m rested or not. I woke up in a panic around 3 AM two nights in a row. It’s probably my period hormones. I’m also wearing bikini bottoms as underwear.
11:30AM: Leftover chicken and couscous that I made last night. Fried some chilis in oil and added a runny egg on top.
5:00PM: Do I dare nip out and pick up some milk? I do it and bring my work phone. Almond breeze is on sale for $3.99.
6:00PM: I am technically not on a client today, so I sign off.
6:30PM: Dinner is frozen trader joe’s meatballs and asparagus and some noodles I found in my fridge. I really, really love trader joe’s. Their wine store should have a punch card. One free bottle every ten bottles purchased. I have a glass of sonoma valley chardonnay.
7:30PM: I drop to the mat and do 50 reps on each side of my favorite abs, legs/glutes and arms moves. Accouterments include resistance bands and free weights. Takes about 30 minutes.
8:30PM: Someone asks me out for Thursday. I text back yes. While we’re on this dating topic, have you noticed that Bumble removed their two free advanced filters? I cave and get the lifetime premium version. $149.99. I don’t think I’ll disclose what two filters I care about, but feel free to guess and judge. laughing crying emoji
Tuesday:
9:00AM: Cold snap last night, and my forgiving bed is oh so forgiving.
9:30AM: Coffee with almond milk and work. But first, I order tea tree oil from amazon with a gift card. $9.00 It’s my antiseptic of choice (diluted) when something isn’t severe enough for neosporin.
12:30PM Lunch is chicken and couscous again. Today I add parm to the whole mess.
3:00PM Stretch break. I drink water and eat strawberries. Is health and wellness my passion now?
5:00PM Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Time for BBQ salmon and asparagus. Also time for wine. I shoot a quick email even though it’s annoying to be emailing after 5pm.
7:30PM I half heartedly workout but I’m a little distracted. My friend got stood up by a first date today. I was skeptical about this prospective date, but I’m glad my friend didn’t waste any more time on this person. Better luck next time!
10:00PM Bedtime. Asparagus makes my pee smell weird.
Wednesday:
8:30AM: Up and at them. Coffee with almond milk in hand.
9:00AM: I moved up today’s first meeting so that I can…
9:30AM: ...also attend a second meeting for another team.
1:00PM: Third meeting of the day. I’m basically late because I got distracted making a flowchart of first date protocols. I guess my friend getting stood up yesterday really ticked me off. The flowchart walks you through everything from matching to walking into your first date venue. My neurosis has no bounds. The flowchart is shared in the group chat. I eat lunch.
2:00PM: I signed up for a professional organization talk on epidemiology. The registration fee is $25 but the firm will pay for it.
3:30PM: Trading desk calls me and I accidentally hang up the first time because I didn’t save their number. I call back and work ensues. I thank him for calling and he says it’s nice to talk on the phone now (wfh problems). I say that it’s better than mumbling to yourself which I do nowadays. We laugh.
4:00PM: A different friend refuses to cut things off with an awful ex. She has previously admitted she is terrified of being alone. I beg her to focus on studying for her certs. She’s a grown woman with a full time job and volunteering hours. She doesn’t work for Teaching A Grown Man How to Act, Incorporated. I offer to slap her for free, friends and family discount.
6:00PM: It is time to venture out and get some vegetables. I have one more serving of asparagus, but I just can’t. Can’t. Not tonight. I buy four small tomatoes on the vine, one large green bell pepper and one jumbo eggplant. $4.59
6:30PM: Dinner is the remaining trader joe’s turkey meatballs and roasted eggplant. I don’t know what liquid smoke is (lol a chemical) but it makes the smoked paprika smell SO good. Also a glass of wine. The chardonnay is now kicked.
9:00PM: Early bedtime.
Thursday:
9:00AM: And my friend (birthday girl) invites me to go to the Hamptons with her and three others this weekend. It is technically a kidnapping since they’re whisking the girl clowning over her ex out of the city so she physically cannot go see him. I have such intense FOMO I can feel my eye twitching. One of the few blessings of wfh. Birthday girl is doing remote law school with Cornell and Clown girl is taking a firm sabbatical to study. And I suppose I shall wither away in my apartment - Whiny girl. There are too many variables for me to be comfortable going (people and location wise), and I don’t want to be holding everyone back or bringing people down. A friendship that insists upon agreement on all things is not worth its name.
2:00PM: Eating leftover meatballs and eggplant. Got a surprise email that I’ve been awarded a monetary performance bonus. This could be in increments of a couple hundred dollars up to maybe a thousand. I’ve received 2 grand this year. (Not included in the salary above, but I utilize it as part of my salary since it’s a known fact my line of work is underpaid compared to industry.)
4:00PM: Date asks to reschedule for tomorrow. Apologizes profusely but I’m annoyed...maybe? To be completely honest, I’m too giddy over the surprise $600 to be anything but :p!
6:00PM: I heat up chicken shumai and have a tomato. I can’t explain my meals today.
7:00PM: Seltzer, strawberries and raw thai chilis. It’s a virgin cocktail! With a bite.
7:30PM: Workout time! I have my favorite videos for abs and lower body. Arms and shoulders are the bane of my existence, but that’s when I use the free weights and just count reps as I watch Netflix.
10:00PM: I fall asleep rewatching old episodes of Madam Secretary. Ah, to imagine a parallel universe...
Friday:
9:00AM: Today is payday. I check and see that my 401k max deduction has kicked in. Guess who now has a bi weekly take home of ~700? This girl. I’ll be close to my max contribution by 12/31. I don’t have many feelings about it, since math wise it’s just a rebalancing between my checking and retirement and a bit of tax deferral. However, This does mean that next I have to keep an eye on interest rates and get firm pre-approval for HYSAs that I’m interested in. Independence is paramount but sucky. Please leave your recommendations below! I’ll check to see if I’m able to open an account with them. Fingers crossed interest rates recover by next year.
12:30PM: Work is slow today. I heat up the rest of the chicken shumai and roast another batch of eggplant. Since I’m already there, I make another batch of chicken/tomato/couscous/parm. This will be dinner and probably lunch at some point.
*Fridge report: we now have one tomato and one green bell pepper left! I am very good with my protein, fat and fiber. But I struggle with adding carbs because I used to count macros in my “dua lipa is my religion” phase in school. Have you seen her arms? Her abs? Her voice? I made it to 130 lbs but it wasn’t sustainable since my natural state is around 120 lbs. I was eating peanut butter at midnight just to make my goals. And there were never enough carbs or sugar allotted for the day, so I became very stingy with them. Now I remind myself that at least one meal a day has to have some sort of rice, couscous, pasta, potato or farro base. Still not a fan of sugar. Dessert, in my opinion, is a wellness/mental health/social thing. Not really a part of my food pyramid since I get enough sugar from my fruit and vegetables. *
7:00PM: I walk to my date. It is so windy by the water that the menu is torn from the laminate and I watch as the next table’s burrata rolls off their plate. Date walks me home.
9:00PM: I group facetime with my college friends. We debrief on a weekly basis. The Seattle engineer sends us a link of a 25 year old Youtuber closing on a place in Palm Springs and how much she spent in a week. $400 on plants!? The one in med school invites us to come visit, although she warns that her rotations take up the bulk of her time. The civil engineer in LA brainstorms ways to get out of chit chatting with her housemates when she gets home. I do an OOTD of my old reformation dress that I wore that day.
Saturday:
9:00AM: I have a headache. Might have been the wind last night or the fact that I kept my bedroom window wide open. I read emails in bed. No work fires. I think about Ruth Bader Ginsburg. What an exceptional woman. There is no room for mediocre women in the world, but so much room for mediocre men.
12:00PM: I get up. Chug water, coffee and take Advil. The day will come when this post hangover checklist no longer works. I pick up large brown eggs on sale for $2.99, Eggos - two boxes on sale for $4 and two packs of ramen. Total: $11. I eat my eggos with butter and honey. I glance at the nutrient breakdown - it’s almost real food. I clean the apartment.
6:30PM: I call my parents. Mom rambles on about orchids and my dad asks whether or not you could get addicted to workout endorphins. I send my dad a couple of medical journals with contradicting opinions. That’ll keep him occupied for the night.
7:30PM: I put on a jacket and meet my date. I’m still wearing the same dress. Have you seen the Netflix show, Dating Around? There’s live music at the venue. The server shows us exactly how they want us to sit so we’re far enough from the other outdoor diners. It is cold. I ponder on how well the 25% indoor capacity will work come 9/30.
10:30PM: Bedtime.
Sunday:
10:00AM: I get up and respond to texts. I feel so lame compared to some of my friends. How are people awake at 2AM? It throws off the next day for me. I take my multivitamins and brush my teeth with my troll’s toothbrush. (Kid toothbrushes are smaller and they’re easier on my gums.) Am I both a child and grandmother in a singular flesh prison?
1PM: Scavenge my own leftovers. I will have to do another big food shop next week. I usually spend $100 every two weeks on groceries. It is strategic. Think staples of frozen chicken tenderloin, seafood, veggies and fruit. I usually have two types of liquor and either wine/hard seltzer on hand. My alcohol budget is $100/month.
2:30PM: I order shampoo from Amazon with my gift card. What shampoos do you like? I got the Ren Pure biotin and collagen one, a staple since school. No sodium chloride, sulfates or dyes. Very bland packaging, just the way I like it. (*$7 for 32oz.) I have stubborn hair. She wears me - I don’t style her.
6:00PM: I head to my date downtown. We walk the dog. Talk about pet insurance.
10:00PM: I mentally go through my work checklist for the upcoming week as I wind down. I sleep better when I can visualize what is ahead. Uncertainty is not exciting for me, although I dare say learning to manage uncertainty will be one of my major plot lines in this lifetime.
Week breakdown:
Food + Drink : $19.6
Fun / Entertainment : $150
Home + Health: $10(gift card)
Clothes + Beauty: $7.6 (gift card)
Transport: prepaid metro card $0
Other: My monthly home expenses were also charged this week. Please see above. ~$150
Initial thoughts:
I am so excited. It’s not every day I allow myself to fight with strangers on the internet. But now that I am the subject matter, takes earrings off
Final thoughts:
This was a standard week for me. I enjoy the pendulum metaphor, where you don’t try to pit priorities against each other or try to cover all bases all the time, but try to swing back and forth as needed. Some weeks are work heavy, some weeks are dedicated to family or friends, some weeks I’m helping with firm volunteer targets. It is a privilege to be able to swing back and forth without consequence. I also received confirmation from NY Division of Housing that my apartment is in fact rent stabilized. I also see the rent charged for tenants dating back to 1990. This is fascinating.
Breakdown:
Friendship time: 1.5 hr facetime. 1 hr phone call.
Dating time: Three evenings.
Family time: 2 phone calls.
Education time: 1 professional talk, half a book. The book had a sensitive subject matter that still lingers, albeit negatively, in my mind.
Career time: Standard. Positively recognized.
Social justice/Volunteer time: Lacking this week. I would like to donate something in memory of RBG, please recommend? Doesn’t have to be political, but female empowerment would be nice.
All in all, good hustle out there! Grab an orange slice, walk it off. Onto the next.

2020.09.19 19:06 Phalinx666 $2-3K New PC for Cyberpunk

What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
Gaming, hoping to run Cyberpunk on Max, maybe streaming down the road.
What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
Around $3000
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
When ever 3080s are actually available.
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
Case, motherboard, CPU, EVGA 3080, 32G of RAM, 1TB SSD, (not sure how large of a secondary HDD I want or need, at least 2TB, power supply, liquid cooling, maybe a sound card, and a new 27", 1ms 4K monitor. Windows 10 Home 64Bit.
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
I live in Rochester, NY. I'm leaning on buying a prebuilt PC from IBuyPower or a similar company, not sure if they're still the best to order PCs from or not.
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
I'll be using my Razer Deathadder Chroma and Razer Blackwidow
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
I'd like to have one build already overclocked or better optimized than I could do (BIOS noob)
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
I want to build the best gaming PC around a 3080 and a powerful CPU. Would like it as close to future proof as possible while still being able to upgrade down the line.
What type of network connectivity do you need? (Wired and/or WiFi) If WiFi is needed and you would like to find the fastest match for your wireless router, please list any specifics.
I have a 100/10 wired internet connection.
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
Black case with minimal LED lighting, windowed, that prioritized cooling and airflow.
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
I do need to upgrade to Windows 10. I think Windows 10 Home 64Bit is best for gaming?
Extra Info:
I could build a PC myself but I don't know how to properly optimize it all in BIOS to get max performance out of everything. I'd like to order a PC prebuild if possible, but only currenly know IBuyPower. Are there any other companies like them maybe closer to NY so I don't need to ship from CA? Thanks for your time and assistance!

2020.09.18 22:24 aquarelable I do no longer stan Larry

Before hating on me: read me. Okay so first things first im ✨byelingual✨ so dont hate on me for my poor gramatical skills also I have 2 braincells so-. Anyways, Ive been a dark larrie (without the bullying on poor eleanor and denying the existence of a identical-looking-louis child) for a while now and ive seen EVERY proof for YEARS and I truly believe they were in love. Like maybe they didnt date but no one can deny to me that harrys face was the face of the most in-love child in the whole holy england. And no one ever explained to me in a heterosexual way the Louis sex jokes and jelousy over the years. Also the touching. And the looks. And the comments. And the changed lyrics like we are not deaf bitch. BUT: Here is my point: Here goes: I truly believe they were in love, (and if you cant see it just watch a larrystylinson compilation and then a narry one and compare lovelyfriendship to fucking crushing in-love monkeys) but based on harrys songs it didnt went right. And based on louis walls it didnt went well at all. Now, dont get me wrong, ill fucking die if the 28/9 something happens or if 1D cames back and they just INTERACT but: its just so weird to me that they didnt ever deny it like properly deny it like not "gEnuEnelY sEriOusLy oBviOusLy iPhonEs cOnsPiraCies DeNyInG" like propper saying "No haha we are just friends we love each other but theres nothing romantic here haha" like i think that is all that was needed but they went from "yeah our names fit really well together we try not to disclose our relationship to the public we bite each others neck on camera" to fucking seriously genuenisuekhsly (i cant write that word) seriously bullshit and it was just weird and they acted so weird and harry never said anything or deny it so,,,,
my point being: i think they were so crushed so in love and suddenly they panicked?? or broke up?? or they were "nothing" for a while??? or something like that and then we got like 3 years of sad looks and furtive fonding etc and i think thats enough.
Its 2020 if louis its still with eleanor thats his decision and if harry cant change the subject of ALL his songs from "we dont talk, you are my home, in the kitchen, we dont talk dont let me go i want home, kitchen" then its no longer management, no longer syco, no longer simon, they are idiots.
Like all the drama of "fans talk on the internet so we feel unconfortable" seems like bullshit to me, there are fanfictions of EVERY ship in the band and no one had a problem with it just them. why? just continue to be proud of your friend if its just that you know what i mean, louis could just be more affectionate with eleanor and be in photos together and people would have to accept it but no, eleanor seems to be living alone with two dogs and louis is nowhere to be found all the time. Like who is in a relationship for nearly 8 years and they dont do nothing like dont propose? or have children? or something i dont know. And dont start me on the face louis gets everytime someone asks about her on an interview. Ive started feeling sad for eleanor like everyone hates on her and even her own so called boyfriend acts like she doesnt exist.
Also the "louis breaks down the meaning of his tattoos" video???? 6 minutes of him lying why would he do that if he wasnt gonna say nothing at all is he dumb
(i love louis he was always my favourite while in the band) ((im just not understanding anything))
Anyways what im trying to say its that oBvioUlsy they have seen each other post-hiatus and theyve been on the same events and theres proof that they have hang out over the years but its just so weird all the secrecy and the avoiding saying each others names on interviews and all that and i just decided to pass out for my personal wellbeing
I just think theyve made it more complicated and weird that it needed to be, and i started to think it was all a plot, and everyone blamed the fans for "making it weird" but they didnt help at all, they just created more mistery and furtive and never ever deny it like propperly and im just mad.
And im sure they were in love and almost 99% sure that they were together together at some point but im just tired of this and tired of the sad albums and everything i just want them to properly deny (there is no way of denying all the videos of them cuddling and madly in love but at least try) it or confess and bring back 1D and then shut the fuck up. They are two grown man now like its not that hard to learn to fucking lie or or or or confess that you had something.
Like listen to their albums: it went wrong. I no longer support the relationship. Even if they were the definition of soulmates in the beggining. Ive been there from soulmate to toxic relationship, aint right. Its 2020 if the 28 happens nothing its over for me.
That is all: fight me. I want to discuss it.
Also louis has been 10 years saying his most romantic gesture was the 💫chicken, stuffed with mozzarella, wrapped in parma ham with a side of homemade mash potatoes💫 like really bitch youve been 6-7 years with your beloved girl and the most romantic thing its something you did on 2011 living with harry and most probably to harry? yeah sure
GO ON FIGHT ME

  1. Import all .XML files from the \job files directory into PDQ deploy (it should look roughly like this after you've imported them).
  2. Copy all files from the \repository directory to wherever your repository is.
  3. All jobs reference PDQ's $(Repository) variable, so make sure it's set in preferences.

Package Notes

  1. Read the notes in the PDQ interface for each package, they explain exactly what that installer does. Basically, most packages use a .bat file to accomplish multi-step installs with the free version of PDQ. You can edit the batch files to see what they do; most just delete "All Users" desktop shortcuts and things like that. changelog-v##-updated-.txt has version and release history in addition to random notes where I complain about things like Reader DC and how much of a pain it is to build packages for.
  2. Thunderbird:
    • Thunderbird is configured to use a global config file stored on a network share. This allows for settings changes en masse. By default it's set to check for config updates every 120 minutes.
    • You can change the config location, update frequency, OR disable this behavior entirely by editing thunderbird-custom-settings.js.
    • A copy of the config file is in the Thunderbird directory and is called thunderbird-global-settings.js
    • If you don't want any customizations, just edit Thunderbird's .bat file and comment out or delete all the lines mentioning the custom config files.
  3. Microsoft Offline Updates - built using the excellent WSUS Offline tool. Please donate to them if you can, their team does excellent work.

Integrity

In the folder \integrity verification the file checksums.txt is signed with my PGP key (0x07d1490f82a211a2, pubkey included). You can use this to verify package integrity.
If you find a bug or glitch, PM me or post it here. Advice and comments are welcome and appreciated.

What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
(Disclaimer, I haven't bought a new PC in over 10 years and haven't built one in over 12, I'm a bit out of the loop when it comes to the latest and greatest parts other than GeForce 3080 is the new hotness. I don't even have a SSD yet)
I need a decent tower that isn't all RGB rainbow barf. Prioritize airflow and cooling. I need to upgrade to Windows 10 (not sure if home or pro is better for gaming), I currently have a 60hz, 1ms, 24" Acer monitor. I'd like to be able to do 4K gaming with highest fps possible with a single 3080 setup. I'd like an Intel CPU (I hear 10th editions are what you want because motherboards are changing to something new?) No idea about I-7 or 1-9, I assume I want the highest GHz possible for gaming? I'm a NVIDIA fan so for GPU, seems the obvious choice would be a 3080 from EVGA (but I assume these will be on backorder for a LOOOOOONG time as they've just been released today?) Motherboard I have no idea about, I guess one that will allow me to run a 3080 with a powerful CPU but also allow me to upgrade for years down the line. Power Supply needs to support a 3080 and also power future possible upgrades. And I'm completely ignorant when it comes to SSDs. I currently have 2x 1TB HHDs from Western Digital. I assume I wasnt a very fast 1TB SSD to run the OS and games I play the most on, with a backup 2+TB HDD to store media and less played games? I'm sure 2TB SSDs are crazy expensive, honestly in the dark when it comes to storage in modern PCs. I currently have a Sound Blaster sound card which I enjoy over the motherboard audio, def need to upgrade. And I would like Liquid cooling for the CPU. I'm good on speakers, mouse, and keyboard.
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
I'm in Rochester, NY. I ordered my last PC from IBuyPower which shipped from CA. I'm sure there are better building sited much closer to home these days, just not aware of the best. Not sure what Microcenter is. On the fence about ordering a pre build PC vs building my own. I know where all parts go but I'm clueless when it comes to optimizing, overclocking, or messing around in BIOS.
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
I'd use my Razer Blackwidow Keyboard with my Razer Deathadder mouse.
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
I've overclocked my current CPU after having it for 5 years. I'm not comfortable with messing around in BIOS so if I were to order a pre build PC, would hope it would come optimized for the best gaming experience.
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
I'm a huge INTEL / NVIDIA / EVGA fan. My main goal is to be able to run Cyberpunk 2077 on Max or as close to it as possible and have a PC that will semi future proof me without having the shell out a ton of $$
What type of network connectivity do you need? (Wired and/or WiFi) If WiFi is needed and you would like to find the fastest match for your wireless router, please list any specifics.
I have a 100/10 wired internet connection
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
Currently have a Thermaletake case that has a few blue LED fans in it. I would like windowed but doesn't have to look like the RGB rainbow barf that many modern cases are going to. Customizable LEDs would be cool, but not if they cost a ton, I want to focus on the monitor and not have crazy lights on the side of my desk distracting me. Color - Black. Prefer airflow and cooling above all, as long as the fans are quiet.
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
Currently running Windows 7 Pro, I need to upgrade to Windows 10, not sure if home or pro is better for gaming. I see IBuyPower has USB backup versions in case you need to reformat or reinstall.
As I said above, I've been out of the PC building for over 10 years and haven't kept up on it. I don't know what's currently best, building vs buying pre built. I can build my own but don't have the knowledge to properly optimize the system through bios. I can order pro build, but you risk it getting damaged in shipping, and extended waiting periods due to COVID. Then again this could be the case buying parts from Newegg especially if I'm wanting a 3080 or 3070. Honestly all I'm really looking for is the best bang for my buck that will allow me to run Cyberpunk at or near Max and not have to spend over $3000. If that means waiting until 2021, I can wait.
Thank you for your time and assistance! Much appreciated!

2020.09.17 01:20 syslad [NY] HOA, Estate and Lawyer Fees

My mom passed away Dec 2019 and lived in a 55+ HOA Community. She had lived there for 30 years. Unfortunately she left the Estate cash poor and a significant amount of debt. The Property Management Company for the HOA was notified of death, Letters Testamentary and Executor of the estate and address/phone number. Then Covid hit NY hard and all my travel as Executor to clear the estate had to stop. I couldn't hire services, moving company, junk pickup, - to get the house in the order necessary for a sale. The Property Management company had told me Arrears would be handled at Closing. Since the Estate was running on barely enough cash to keep utilities going - the HOA payments went into Arrears. It couldn't be helped.
As NY opened back up - I scheduled a flight out to quarantine and handle clearing the place on 7/11. There were no notices on door or in mailbox and no one visited me during my three weeks. I was able to get the house cleared, fixed and up for sale. When I came home - I had a letter of Legal Fees on the Estate. When I called the Collector Law Firm - I was told a Lien was put on the house. Doing a lookup online - I saw the lien was placed on 7/8. Once again - I wasn't given a notice as Executor of the estate. I said the house was up for sale. During a three week Sales contract negotiation - Legal Fees were accruing. I now had more than $4200 in Legal Fees in less than 6 weeks and they knew we were in a Sales Contract Negotiation from both Real Estate attorneys. Arrears on HOAs were $3600 and the Cable Bill was at $700 (Which we cancelled as dead people don't watch tv or use the internet).
I called the Collections Law Firm to discuss the fees and left name/number and my call was never returned. I also sent emails to Collections Law Firm and to Property Management Legal asking about itemized details about these Legal Fees and NO ONE is providing the information. My Real Estate attorney who deals with the Home Sales Contract has also asked for this information numerous times.
There is some concern that the Property Management Company will hold up the closing date on the House as this has been mentioned.
While the Estate is cash poor - we have been trying to handle this amicably and it is clear to everyone in our email messages - something very wrong is going on. It's like an intentional game to try to hit us with Fees and then not take our phone calls or answer emails.
I need a shark of an attorney on this one or some great advice. I feel like I'm intentionally getting the run around. I've dealt with many entities without a problem but this HOA is the absolute worst in my life.
If the advice is to pay the HOA fees now, we've asked for payoffs and not received anything while the Legal fees continue even when they have a copy of the Home Sales Contract.

2020.09.16 18:09 nickmillerism I am 32 years old make $47,000 and live on Long Island and work as a finance assistant.

Money diary of myself and my boyfriend, D.
Income
Income Progression: I am paid hourly at $17 an hour with overtime available, which before COVID and starting again soon I work an average of 58-61 hours a week. D is also paid hourly at $29 an hour and has overtime available when asked.
Monthly Take Home: The month of August for me was $2,245 after taxes and 401k. D makes $3200 a month after taxes. I forfeit my health insurance and receive $150 a month because I am on D's work plan which is the same exact health insurance but shockingly cheaper because his company pays more into it.
Assets and Debt
Retirement Balance (and how you got there): 401k balance today is $17,991.51. I am now 100% vested because I've been at my job for 8 years. Company matches 1%, it's a small family owned business so I don't expect anything at all.Savings account balance: $12,300 in my personal, $2,900 in D's personal.Checking account balance: $400 in my personal, ~$3,300 in joint checking for shared expenses.
Credit card debt (and how you accumulated it): Explained below in expenses
Student loan debt (for what degree): I graduated at a SUNY school for journalism and photography. My dad paid for all 4 years and has never asked to be repaid. I think it was the worst mistake I ever made because 1: I was going through depression and other emotional issues 2: I never used my degree by way of graduating in 2010 and never was hired for a job I was qualified to do.
Expenses
Rent: $1,819 for a 900sq ft one bedroom second floor apartment with a large outdoor balcony. 5th year rent will be $1,940 which we know because we signed a 2 year lease this time and I negotiated down both years rent. Renters insurance: $135 for one year paid in April.
Health insurance: $755.56 a month, or $188.89 deducted per pay check from D's job. It includes medical, dental and vision.
Savings contribution: I was very good at saving during and before COVID. I would save $500-$600 a check depending on bills due that pay period. Now I'm just happy if I have money in my checking to roll over into savings at the next pay period. I set up auto-save for D $100 a week into his own savings account.
Debt payments:$387.02 balance on Chase Freedom and $3,900 balance on Target MasterCard (which are for revolving shared expenses and I'm slowly learning to stop. I have a habit of wanting more liquid cash in our checking in case of emergencies rather than use it for spending. I don't know why I'm like this and I hate it.) $3,966 on a Discover card that was a balance transfer from AMEX with 0% interest for 18 months. Beginning balance was $5,459 that D had been using when we first started dating 8 years ago, ran up the charge and just never told me about. He's been paying it down with monthly minimum automatic $200 payments until I have to balance transfer to another card (LOL COOL). I control all finances because he spends thoughtlessly and doesn't understand money.
Monthly expenses:
Electric: Summer months are $50-$100, winter months are $25-$45.
Wifi: $80/month Verizon Fios internet.
Subscriptions: We have Hulu free from having Sprint, Disney+ free for 2 years from signing up for Fios this year. HBOMAX, Amazon Prime, Showtime, Netflix, Apple TV my parents pay for and we use their logins and use a separate profile for streaming.
Cellphone: $67 auto pay monthly for my Sprint service. D's is $130 auto pay monthly because he pays for the phone as he goes bundled with his Sprint service plan.
Pet expenses: Chewy order of $67 every 3 months for 40lbs of litter, 2 packets of treats, 48 cans of food and a new toy. I buy her a new scratcher pad, toy or cute nonsense every so often in addition to this. She's my child and I work to make her life great.
Car payment: My 3 year Jeep lease is $278/month. The Jeep I traded in for this was owned and was given $7,000 as the trade in cost. I used that to cover my payments for the first 2 years and am now paying for it myself as of September.
My car insurance this year is $1,528 for the year. D owns both his cars outright and pays $76/month for insurance.Apple Music and iPhone storage: $11/month, I use.
Spotify: $10/month, D uses.
Weed/beealcohol expenses: $120 twice a month for bud we share. D spends an average of $150-200 a month on craft beer (please roll your angry eyes with me)
Day 1:
530am: Wake up after maybe my worst winery experience ever. I can handle my alcohol, have never thrown up and never been hung over. It was almost as if someone put something in my drink or it was bad wine. Shower, Skincare/makeup routine of CeraVe moisturizing cleanser, Pixi Glow tonic, FIT concealer, Anastasia Modern Romance palette, LashCraft big volume mascara. I stopped using so much makeup (foundation/full face) since the pandemic started since I wasn't going to work for 3 months and my skin is clear and beautiful for the first time in my life. Pop 2 Advil, feed our cat and head to work. This is the usual morning routine so there's no need to keep repeating it for this.
745am: Decide I need a cure of a bacon, egg, cheese, salt, pepper, ketchup on a roll. $4
8am: Fill my Yeti water bottle, get into my office and start my day. It's the last day of our sales month and I know I'll have long stretches of hours in my chair getting through the paperwork.
1pm: Work friends decide to order lunch. I go in on their order from NY Panini with a sandwich (thin chicken cutlet, fresh mozz, vodka sauce to dip. Absolutely heavenly). $15 including tip.
4pm: Get an alert from Chase that D bought beer at our local bevy. $20
8:30pm: Finally done, hit our imaginary number. Drive home, get ready for bed and much needed uninterrupted sleep.
Total: $39
Day 2: 5am: Wake up to the cat meowing in my face. Guess she didn't get fed her pre-breakfast when D woke up. 8am: Sit down in my office and be happy today will be slow. I had made a batch of cold brew over the weekend with Peet's Major Dickason's blend, so I pour that over water and add a splash of Oatly.
1pm: Lunch that I brought from home (chicken with mozz and a red sauce i made from our garden tomatoes) while reading The Southern Book Club's Guide To Slaying Vampires.
430pm: Leave work on time, get home to do household chores, catch up with D and relax a little before a late dinner out.
8pm: I'm trying to break the habit of getting home, getting comfortable and canceling plans to stay home so I change back into an outfit to meet up with my friend that I never get to see because our schedules never match up. We order roasted brussels sprouts, penne ala vodka, a paloma for me and a mojito for him. He ends up paying and I will owe him dinner next time.
11pm: Home, skincare, bed.
TOTAL: $0
Day 3:
8am: Settle into work, see there's not much going on today and read a decent amount of the book I picked up over the weekend. This week it's The Southern Book Club's Guide To Slaying Vampires. I make good use of 2 of my local libraries and keep track of how much I would have spent if I bought books or bought/rented movies. So far I've saved $782.
12pm: Weird lunch of leftovers thrown together (tomato and mozzarella salad, cucumber slices) while talking with work friends.
1pm: Get an alert from Chase that D got McDonalds for lunch $15.73
6pm: End up having to stay late because of a delivery no one ever told us about. Wait for insurance to come in, print up paperwork and run out before anything else happens.
7pm: Come home to D in the middle of laundry and heating up leftovers for dinner. After a few bites, my anxiety takes over from needing to go to the store and make a deal with him (i fold his laundry if he comes to the store with me). We pick up K-cups for D, Keurig filter, almond milk, bread, English muffins, Ritz-bits, Nutter-Butters, sour cream, dish soap and cotton rounds. $54.85
9pm: Skincare, read some of my book and sleep before 10.
TOTAL: $70.58
Day 4: 645am: Sleep in a bit, throw up my hair and head to work for another slow day.
2pm: Co-worker treats 4 of us to halal for lunch and we sit together trying to figure out our schedules for what nights coming up work best to go out for drinks. Seems to be tomorrow that works. Pack up and head to a dreaded dentist appointment.
330pm: I usually don't mind this appointment because I take really good care of my teeth, and I love my hygienist. My usual dentist isn't in, so a different one informs me an old filling is cracking and I will need a crown (but from what the X-ray shows, not a root canal and post!). They quote me $1360 for the crown and $500 for a new night guard. Told them I would look into being added to D's dental insurance in addition to the medical I'm now on so that both those expenses would be cut by 85%. Use my CareCredit card to pay my bill for today's 5 X-rays, cleaning and a checkup. $271.
4pm: Get an alert from Chase that D also spent $54 between a doctor copay and a prescription pick up. He also stops at 7-11 for whatever he got there $10.22.
5pm: Change into leggings, tank and sneakers so I'm motivated enough to go on a walk and it's not 900 degrees. D decides to join. We smoke a bowl and enjoy a longer than usual walk around our neighborhood. Our new favorite thing is critiquing houses and landscaping since soon we will have to make the decision to stay another 2 years at our apartment, buy my parents' house or find a new place.
7pm: Change into comfy clothes and settle onto my couch D makes a teriyaki London broil, roasted onions and shisito peppers for dinner. We get into a Hulu and Netflix black hole and impulse watch 2 episodes Married To Millions (jfc, these people are insane but can't look away).
TOTAL: 335.22
Day 5: 630am: Get out of the shower in a panic thinking there's gun shots going off but it's some moron setting off fireworks. In front of my Jeep. Cool. Neighbors start recording him and his white BMW license plate and he eventually drives off cursing at all of them. I need a strong coffee.
730am: Find that the neighbor slipped a Post-It through the mail slot with the police report number she filed in case that guy comes back and it's nice to have if i notice any damage to my Jeep that may have happened.
830am: Friday and it's pay day for both D and I. I transfer $500 into our joint account and feel relief that we're done with bills for the month so it can only go up from here.
10am: If anyone calls me that isn't work related, I panic that someone died or an equally bad situation. D calls to tell me our refrigerator is being replaced since they cannot repair it! All our appliances have been upgraded or replaced since we've moved in, which makes it enticing to sign another lease when we have to in 2022.
4pm: Get an alert from Chase that D took out money to pay for our bi-monthly weed pickup. Our guy gets medical quality from California so it's worth the steeper price. $120
6pm: Out on time and meet my friend/co-worker K at the bar. He has friends there already and it's already getting wild. Work friends and other people I know slowly trickle in and it's a great night. I never understand how people hate their co-workers because I don't know what I would do without them as my genuine friends. Z, K's now fiance, shows up and she wants to talk outside in private where she asks me to be in their wedding party! So honored. They got engaged 2 weeks ago and it's extra special for me because Z's parents and mine have been best friends for 30+ years and I have worked with K for 5 years. We're all very close and he treats me very well in return for how much I help him at work.
9pm: I throw in $40 cash for my one beer, a shared app and a tip.
TOTAL: $160
Day 6: 445am: D wakes up at dawn to go fishing, which he tries to do every off summer day he has. I'm more of a "have a cocktail and read my book on the boat", but today is a get shit done day.
6am: Make my cup of cold brew with a splash of oat milk and start cleaning the entire apartment. Wait until 9am to use the deep cleaning vacuum (we have a smaller Dyson v8 for everyday cleaning and a plug in Bissell Turbo plus for once a week. I just wish I could be more like Monica Geller in a Friends deep cut and have a smaller one to clean both of those.)
11am: Once everything seems in place and spotless, I head out for errands. My mother works at my hometown library and gets me all the new releases. I stop in to pick up my holds for the week and they tell me I won the summer reading challenge (read 32 books) and my prize is a Kindle Fire 7 HD!
12pm: Drive to the most convenient shopping center around. First Ulta for shampoo, conditioner and the Anastasia brow gel. I usually use the Coloupop Boss Brow but decided to try a higher end product that may last longer. I use $6 of Ulta points and $34 of a store credit balance. Just $34 owed. At Target I pick up Pixi Glow toner, quart Ziplocs, Febreeze and an oversized tie-dye crop tee. I get a $5 giftcard to use later because the beauty purchase was more than $25 itself. $53.51. Last stop is Whole Foods to get Oatly, 2 bags of Purely Elizabeth grain-free granola and a LaColombe draft latte. $15.59
2pm: We had made plans to meet up with K and Z for some drinks and food but D is running behind on the boat. 2 hours later we finally get in the car and meet them. Round of beers at the first place and round of drinks at the second, K pays. Stop into a jewelry store in the town where Z buys earrings for herself and snuck in a t-shirt that says "bridesmaid/best friend" for me. I just love her. . 5pm: Realize that it's Derby day and our usual bar is having an event, which thankfully died down by the time we arrive. The Islanders game is also on which annoys the hell out of me. We all order some drinks, wings, nachos and the cook makes us Italian bread zeppoles. I somehow manage to convince K to let me pay for once. Our favorite bartender is 33 so I tip him $33. $66 total
9pm: Get in at a surprisingly reasonable hour and am able to get quality sleep before tomorrow's long day.
TOTAL: $169.10
Day 7:
7am: Sleep in a bit, enjoy my cold brew and get in some time reading Majesty by Katharine McGee (highly recommend the first book American Royals) while the cat has zoomies that won't end.
10am: Feeling restless and decide on a 2 hour walk alone. Listen to the sunday NYT Daily and Smartless (new podcast with Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes). Back home and get ready for the day.
2pm: Celebrating Labor Day sunday with our quarantine bubble friends and their kids. We're in charge of getting sides and seltzer and I don't disappoint with our selections (the expected mac, coleslaw, potato salads, a cold pasta and veggie salad, tomato, basil, mozz salad, Long Island corn to roast and Blueberry Lemonade Polar seltzer. $34.08. Much to my dismay, D stops at the bevy and gets a 6 pack of Zombie Dust beer $24.32.
7pm: Dinner was incredible bbq food and we end the night with s'mores around the fire pit. Time at our friends' house always feels like a short time at a resort between the chef's kitchen, salt water pool, hot tub and fire pit, I never want to leave. We are also not going to have children so I enjoy the time we get to spend with our friends' kids who are basically family. They send us home with so many leftovers and I graciously accept the fact I won't have to cook anything until Wednesday.
11pm: Stop on the service road for gas $42.50. Get home way too late for a work night, and a sales holiday no less. Get ready for bed and read until I relax enough to fall asleep
TOTAL: 100.90
Weekly Total:$835.80
Week of reflection:
After taking a hard look at everything financially and emotionally in my life, I sat down with D and told him my frustrations over the past few years. I told him I don't want to be anxious every time I get a Chase alert and that he spends without thinking. We agreed that $50 a week will go into his own debit account which he can use for morning coffee, beer, and whatever is his own stuff. His $100 autosave i=for him is switched to every other week for awhile. We will never get to another level relationship-wise or financially if we keep spending more than we earn or don't keep a closer eye on things. I also explained how I am his partner and not a parent and I don't enjoy nagging him about how to adult better. Any other purchase or new expense over $100 we will talk about before doing it.
We will also be designating one or two days a week for errands and expenses with a list in hand so we don't go and buy unnecessary things and stop going to stores so often.

2020.09.16 13:17 gradschoolMD I am a 22 year old full-time graduate student making about $17,000/year from my three part-time jobs

EDIT: forgot my location in the title, I’m in upstate NY
If I were to write an R29-style header for this, I would say "Today: a 22 year old graduate student who makes $17,000/year and spends some of her money this week on bagels and laundry". I submitted a Money Diary this past March so I guess this is technically a follow-up, but my life looks very different now so I'd really consider them entirely separate.

Basic Information

Monthly Expenses

Yearly Expenses

Additional R29 questions/education expenses context because this is a grad school diary and I thought it would make sense to answer these!

Monday, September 7

7:45 AM I have an 8 AM nonprofit finance class this morning, but it’s online so I can sleep in super late. I wake up 15 minutes before class time, pour myself a cold brew that I make in my french press, throw on a sweatshirt over my pajamas and brush my hair before heading back to bed with my laptop for class. I’m able to keep my camera off for most of the zoom call, so it’s a relaxing way to start my week.
9:30 AM Another online class! This one requires cameras-on the whole time, so I leave my bed and go chill on my couch so I look slightly more presentable. In-class group work over Zoom is really just not the same- does anyone else hate team breakout rooms? Near the end of the lecture I start getting hungry, but realize I won't have time between the end of this class and the time I have to leave for campus to make food. I order a bagel for pickup at a cafe on the way to campus while the lecture finishes up. $3.08
10:45 AM Time to get ready for my first in-person class of the week. I throw on athletic shorts and a bra under the same pajama t-shirt and sweatshirt I was wearing earlier- yes, I’m a fashion icon. Grab my mask and I’m out the door, I pick up my pre-ordered bagel on the way and eat it while I walk. The class is okay, it's a quant modeling class which is way out of my comfort zone, so I'm glad that I'm able to take it in-person (at least until we inevitably get forced online by NY regulations).
1:15 PM I’m back in my apartment and heat up leftovers from last night’s dinner for lunch (cauliflower rice with roasted chickpeas, sweet potatoes, tofu, and a tahini garlic sauce) while listening to folklore. I think I've settled on august as my favorite song. Email my landlord about fixing a few things in my apartment that I've been trying to get him to sort out for literal weeks.
2:00 PM I have a planning meeting with the professor that I TA for. He’s super busy and bad at communication, so I’ve been handling the brunt of student questions so far. I made the mistake of letting the first-years add me to their class group chat, and they’ve been texting me at all hours. We talk about this and clarify what expectations should be for my TA position- he seems to want me to work 10-15 hours/week even though I was told 5-9 by the admin assistant who hired me. I can probably do 10-15, just not every week. We'll see.
2:30 PM The meeting transitions right into the class- I mostly just chill (camera on, unfortunately) listening to the lecture and taking attendance/marking participation, and nod sporadically when the professor makes reference to me. I won’t have many out-of-class responsibilities until grading starts, since I don’t have to run open office hours. After the class ends I work on organizing the course website and figuring out what the hell the prof is trying to do with the syllabus. Class hours and all prep/grading is billable time for TAs.
4:45 PM Realize that my fridge is pretty much empty except for a few random condiments and the rest of the leftovers that I had for lunch. I head out for a Wegman's run and buy enough for at least a week and a half- I used to go once a week, but with COVID I'm trying to spend less time in crowded grocery stores. I don't feel like cooking so I end up having some of the chana dal snacks and ice cream that I just got for dinner around 6:30. So healthy. $98.67, split out into food & home categories
7:30 PM Another online class! I hate night classes and strongly dislike online classes, so this seems like a recipe for disaster- however it's actually a really interesting course on inequality in education with a professor I think I'll really like, so hopefully it'll be worth it.
9:55 PM Class is over. 2 and a half hours is absolutely brutal for a nonstop Zoom meeting, especially at night and for my fifth class of the day. I shower and change into pajamas and catch the end of the Lightning-Islanders game. My favorite team and all of the teams I ended up bandwagoning are now out of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, so I'm trying to find a new one to root for- the game was high-scoring and fun to watch but I still don't like these teams.

Tuesday, September 8

9:30 AM I get to sleep in a bit today! I was supposed to have a shift at the COVID center starting at 7:30, but the university keeps changing the hours of the sites (it's a total disaster), so now my shift starts at 10:45. First thing I do when I wake up is send a quick thank-you text to my sister who's going to visit our mom- she broke her foot last week and her boyfriend (they live in the same town in separate houses) is being shitty and not helping her, so my sister is leaving college to go stay with her for a bit. I'm a few hours closer to home, but I have in-person work and class whereas my sister's school is totally online this semester. I have some scrambled eggs with spinach and cheese for breakfast before I leave the house.
10:15 AM I'm out of homemade cold brew and have a bit of time, so I drive to Dunkin to grab a coffee. I reload my rewards card to pay for it, and earn a free drink for my next visit! I'm from Massachusetts and the fact that I actually have to go out of my way to drive to Dunkin in New York makes me a lil sad. $10.00
10:45 AM Time for work- one of the blessings of the COVID job is free parking in high-demand lots (where the yearly parking cost would be about $900) on campus near the test sites, so I drive there straight from Dunkin. Luckily it's not too crazy of a shift, but I end up seated at a station next to this really weird coworker who keeps making wack comments about his personal life that are extremely inappropriate for the workplace. I make note of his name and plan to email my supervisor later, he's making me kind of uncomfortable and he's saying awkward sexual shit around people who are at the site to get tested.
1:00 PM Done with my shift so it's time for class! It's another quant class where I'm wayyy out of my comfort zone, I haven't taken econometrics in three years and it looks like I'll have to re-learn a lot of stuff in order to keep up. The professor seems good though, which will make a big difference since my last econometrics professor was terrible.
3:00 PM I pick up my car and head home, and immediately am bombarded with texts from my TA class- the readings haven't been posted correctly to the class website. Quickly fix that and put out a few other related fires. Trying to run an entirely-online class where lots of the students are participating asynchronously from another continent is a nightmare, I shoot an email to the professor about monitoring asynchronous course participation since we need to come up with a system for that ASAP.
4:00 PM Heat up the last of the leftover veggies and cauliflower rice from a few days ago, and settle in to catch up on miscellaneous work stuff. I draft an email to my supervisor about my coworker and have my mom look it over (with names redacted) since she works in HR. I'm going to wait to send it for at least a day so if he gets written up maybe he won't realize it's me that prompted it. I wash my bedsheets and towels in my building's coin-op washedryer. $3.00
9:00 PM My meal schedule has been way off today, with a super late lunch and dinner. I make this recipe, with a plant-based sausage added for protein. I eat 95% vegetarian and I'm making a conscious effort this year to eat vegetables multiple times a day.
1:15 AM After another few hours of scrolling through TikTok and finishing fixing the disaster of a website for my TA class, I head to bed.
Daily Total: $13.00

Wednesday, September 9

7:00 AM It's too early and I went to bed too late. The 8 AM online class I had on Monday is in-person on Wednesday, and I'm kind of regretting not signing up for the fully online version since it means I have to actually get ready in the morning. I drag myself out of bed and into the shower, and before I head out I order a coffee and a breakfast sandwich to pick up from Starbucks on my walk to campus. $7.34
9:30 AM Second class of the day, online. I'm realizing I don't really like this course and will probably try to find another one to replace it before the drop deadline. I find a quiet-ish courtyard on campus to go on Zoom, since all of the normal study spaces are closed. This is not gonna work once it gets really cold in upstate NY. While listening to the Zoom lecture, I see that my manager at my COVID job has scheduled me for a last-minute shift that conflicts with a class tomorrow- I email her and hope that she sees it in time. This job creates 8-hour shifts in the middle of the day with no easy option for partial hours, and then they wonder why they can't get their student employees on the schedule.
1:00 PM Head home after my third class of the day. I was distracted the whole time, trying to sort through TA and other work stuff (my shift got fixed at the COVID job, thank god) during the lecture, so I'll probably have to skim the slides again later. I chatted with a classmate in my cohort afterwards for a bit, and realize that that's the first time I've talked to someone outside of my family in a non-work capacity in over a week. Yikes. I make lunch (roasted asparagus and goat cheese pasta, are you sensing the "roasted veggie + pasta/rice + cheese" theme that makes up the majority of my meals?) and chill a bit before my TA class starts.
6:00 PM After finishing my TA class and working through some course readings, I make a kale salad with roasted chickpeas, sweet potatoes, goat cheese, and a tahini dressing for dinner. While I'm cooking dinner my dad calls, and I talk to him for about half an hour- we haven't talked for two weeks so I update him on a lot of stuff. My sister also texts and says that our mom gave her a lecture about how she needs to be nicer to the boyfriend- we both agree that we're not quite ready to go back to being pleasant to him yet, and would like to hear his reasoning and perhaps an apology for being so unhelpful that my sister had to drive four hours to do what he should have been doing all along.
10:00 PM I'm not having a great night, feeling quite depressed and socially isolated. I struggled socially as an undergrad and didn't really have any close friends, and now that the majority of my friends/acquaintances from undergrad have left and I haven't made any friends in my short time in pandemic-grad-school, I'm stuck by myself most of the time. It's really difficult to look out my window and see houses full of friends hanging out on their porch on a beautiful night and wishing I could have had that while knowing I never will. I end up going to bed early since I'm just tired and sad.
Daily Total: $7.34

Thursday, September 10

9:00 AM I wake up feeling slightly better than last night, but still feel a bit worn out. My sister texts that my mom now needs to be in a cast for 6 weeks. Hopefully the boyfriend can get his shit together. I make a breakfast sandwich with eggs, cheese, and spinach. I hang around my apartment for a while since work doesn't start until 11:45.
11:30 AM On my way to work, I stop and grab a coffee at a cafe ($4.16) and then go to 7/11 to pick up a notebook for class and a pack of batteries that I need for my string lights ($14.56).
1:15 PM After spending an hour and a half at work, I take my break in order to go to class. I'm supposed to go in-person, but I can't make it across campus fast enough and end up just going to the Zoom session. I am going to need to do some serious studying for this class, stats and econometrics is like another language to me.
2:45 PM Class is over and I'm back to work. There's a nonstop stream of students and staff coming to get tested, I personally go through at least 100 people over the course of three hours. Near the end of my shift, my coworker (the same one I'm reporting, actually) checks his email and finds out that he's been given a $3/hour raise and is now benefits-eligible. I immediately race to my phone, but there's no email. Everyone tries to figure out who qualified for the raise, and we come to the conclusion that student workers didn't get it. I might reach out to my supervisor about that, seems kind of ridiculous given that we do the exact same job. I don't need benefits and probably don't qualify anyways but the raise would be awesome.
7:00 PM I get home from work and eat some of the leftover kale salad, lentil chips and a homemade za'atar goat cheese dip, and an apple with peanut butter. I'm so hungry since I haven't eaten since the egg sandwich at 9 AM.
11:00 PM I re-watch the two econometrics lectures from this week– a huge perk of Zoom class is recorded lectures– and try to take more detailed notes and go through the motions of the coding myself. I still don't really get it, and feel pretty dumb listening to the intelligent questions that my classmates (half of whom are undergrads) are asking. Math in all forms has been a weak point for me since middle school, but I'm trying to power through so I can enter the workforce with at least some quant skills.
Daily Total: $18.72

Friday, September 11

9:00 AM Wake up and scroll through my social media for a bit, and have the rest of the kale salad for breakfast. Not really a traditional breakfast but I don't feel like cooking anything. I have my orientation for my research job this morning, and I think it's going to be a great experience! The two other grad researchers are both students in my program, so it'll be nice to get to know some more people. My official start date is next week, though I'm being paid for training. Once I'm done on that Zoom call, I head to work at the COVID center at 11.
3:00 PM I finally get my lunch break- there's not much open, so I'm limited to the one cafe near my work site. I pick up a bagel and a coffee, and the women who work there give me free coffee add-ons (oat milk and vanilla syrup) since they recognize me after I did their COVID tests in the morning. I love the dining workers on my campus. I have some extra dining dollars from last semester that rolled over due to COVID, so I use the last of those and pay the balance with my debit card. $1.06, remainder was pre-paid from last spring
7:00 PM Finally home- I decide to clean my apartment for a bit before showering, and I'm disgusted by how dirty it got. I'm a huge clean freak and this apartment isn't super well-kept (thank you college town slumlords!) and has a lot of cobwebs/dirty areas, so it causes basically a constant undercurrent of anxiety. I've recently been thinking a lot about my old apartment, which was newly renovated and a 2-bedroom which would have cost me $1,000/month for my share this year. My desire to live alone and be in the area where I thought I could best make a last-ditch effort at meeting people and making friends won out over my love for that apartment, and I'm pretty seriously regretting it at this point given the whole COVID situation. Depending on how the spring semester shakes out, I might try to sublet it and find a different place.
9:00 PM I'm still feeling a bit anxious and unsettled after cleaning, and don't really have the mental fortitude to cook tonight. A $5 coupon from GrubHub arrives in my email inbox like they can read my mind. I order paneer makhani to pick up from the Indian restaurant a block away from my apartment, and try to turn it into a positive thought about the apartment itself- my old place wasn't walking distance from Indian food, this one is. $10.07
11:00 PM My mom sends me a link to a video that she found of my school's 9/11 memorial dedication. We lost 21 alums that day, and a permanent memorial was dedicated a few years ago. I've gone a few times to see it in person and met some of the families through my previous jobs, so I spend some time watching the video. I was just shy of 4 years old on 9/11 so I obviously don't remember much, but going to a school with a large number of students from NYC almost guarantees that everyone knows someone with a personal connection. It always feels a bit solemn around here on the day.
4:00 AM I couldn't sleep. Finally pass out sometime between 3:30 and 4.
Daily Total: $11.13

Saturday, September 12

9:00 AM Drag myself out of bed and make scrambled eggs with cheese, and some cold brew that's been sitting in the french press for several days with the coffee grinds- this is basically liquid cocaine, it's extremely caffeinated but I'll need that today. I leave my apartment around 9:40 and start walking to work.
10:00 AM Today isn't too crazy, which is unexpected given that the site I'm working at is usually one of the more crowded ones. The shift supervisor today is the sweetest woman, she comes around and takes our individual coffee orders and brings them to us at our stations. I take quick breaks whenever I can to run to the corner to slip my mask off and take a drink. I chat to some of the other student workers when we have longer periods of down time, they seem really nice. I might try to work this site more often and get to know them better.
3:00 I drew the short straw once again and got the late lunch break- nothing's open on campus since it's Saturday, so I run back to the cafe near my apartment and order a turkey sandwich. I know I need to start bringing my own lunch, but we have no microwaves and the only fridges we have at the sites are for test tubes and ice packs so that makes it a bit difficult. $9.08
6:00 PM Done at work and headed home- I make a roasted cauliflower pasta that uses the rest of the spinach as well, and save some for tomorrow's dinner.
10:00 PM Lounging around in bed and watching the Vegas-Dallas game. I think I'd rather have one of these teams win the Cup than either of the teams in the ECF.
1:30 AM Fall asleep

Sunday, September 13

9:00 AM Up for another day of work. I make some eggs and cut up an apple with peanut butter.
10:00 AM My job today is as a greeter, so I'm not doing the actual registration and test observation, and am instead in charge of getting people lined up and dealing with the logistics of the site. A lot of the people in the line tell me that they were supposed to have an appointment at another site, but they showed up and it was dark and no one was there to deal with the 75 people waiting in line. We realize there's been a huge staffing miscommunication with our local health system partner, and this happened at three sites. What a clusterfuck. I also committed the cardinal sin of autumn in New York by not appropriately layering- it's suddenly 50 and raining, and I'm freezing my ass off sitting outside in leggings and a t-shirt.
2:30 PM Lunch break- I go to the one place on campus open on Sunday afternoons to grab a salad. $8.70
3:00 PM Still a decent flow of people coming through the site since we're still taking over from the sites that unexpectedly closed. By the end of the day, we've tested over 1,100 people just at this one site. I'm developing a horrible crick in my neck from turning to look and point each person to where they need to go.
6:00 PM Home from work. I heat up the rest of the pasta from last night and try to massage my neck a bit- I can tell it's going to hurt tomorrow, feeling like I'm 82 instead of 22. I prep some cold brew for tomorrow morning.
10:30 PM I'm absolutely exhausted, so I fall asleep around 10:30 for the first time in weeks. Hopefully this means I'll be well-rested for my 8 AM tomorrow.
Daily total: $8.70

Monday, September 14

7:45 AM I wake up feeling somewhat well-rested, but my neck is still really hurting. I grab some of the cold brew from the fridge and go to my online class.
9:15 AM I find a class that I'm interested in to replace the one that I'm thinking of dropping, and start getting ready to go to it to check it out. Just as I'm about to leave, I realize my neck is getting to be absolutely unbearable and I don't think I can make the walk up to campus with my backpack without a lot of pain. I shoot the professor a quick email asking for the Zoom link, and he manages to get back to me before the class starts! I join the online section and like the course, so I plan to make the official switch in my schedule. The class I don't like is taught by my advisor (who I'm hoping to TA for in the spring), so that might be a little awkward when I leave.
11:30 AM I make some pasta with a veggie sausage for lunch and go to class- this is usually an in-person class for me but I stay home and go to the online section today because I'm still in pain.
2:30 PM TA class- I'm required to have my camera on, and after comfortably laying down all day I feel like I'm dying because of the position that I'm being forced to keep my neck in. I periodically turn my camera off to lay down for a minute and scream into my pillow before coming back and pretending that nothing's wrong.
4:30 PM I drive to a laundromat to wash my clothes- I'm out of coins and need to go to the laundromat to get them from the machine, so I do my wash there instead of in my building. While I wait for my wash I call my grandma and catch up for a bit, and when I move my clothes to the dryer I go to Target to return some stuff I bought for my apartment and get painkillers. Have a mini-breakdown in the parking lot of Target because I'm so anxious about my apartment and the cost and how it's not kept-up and how I'm feeling so much regret about the lease. I send a frantic 3-paragraph text to my mom and dad about this and tell them that I want to try to find a subletter and come home. $6.00 for laundry, +$51.69 in refunds from Target (not included in breakdown), $4.07 for Ibuprofen
7:30 PM Dinner (eggs on toast) and online class. I'm really distracted, I hate Zoom class. My mom texts me throughout and I reply for a bit, and kind of unload about feeling super lonely and stressed. My dad calls around 10 after class is over, and we talk for a bit. I'm not sure he really gets where I'm coming from but he does his best to provide support, in an emotionally-stunted-middle-aged-dad kind of way (which is mostly just him talking about how I always "manage to power through" and referencing sunk costs and uncertainty). Honestly, I probably won't sublet the apartment just because I don't know if I'm ready to move all my shit again and because it's a buyer's market for sublets right now, but I really wish I had tried to get out of my lease before it started in August. I always have a lot of anxiety and regrets about large purchases, so this is nothing new. What I probably need instead of a sublet is to go back to therapy.
2:30 AM I'm still up writing a paper, so I answer a text in the group chat for my TA class about the paper- the student who asked apologizes for bothering me so late, she's abroad and didn't realize what time it was in NY. I'm fine with answering if I'm up, but I'm going to have to force myself to not answer until the morning so they don't start expecting that kind of immediate response from me.
Daily Total: $10.07

WEEKLY TOTAL: $179.79

CATEGORY TOTAL
Food and Drink $148.18 total ($53.49 from restaurants/cafes and $94.69 for groceries)
Fun and Entertainment $0
Home and Health $8.05

Other $23.56

Notes

This was a typical week for me- I work a lot, I spend a lot on food, and I don't spend on much else beyond my monthly expenses. Obviously I don't buy $100 of groceries every week, since those last about two weeks- I usually shop on Mondays, restock on fresh veggies at the Wednesday farmer's market the next week, which runs me about $15-20, and then go to Wegmans again on Monday. I'm trying to spend less on coffee since I realize it's ridiculous to buy a $4 drink every morning when I can buy an $8 bag of beans and get 12 cups out of it.
As I get more into my research job, I'll be shifting some hours from the COVID job to that- it pays more and is more beneficial to my career, and I don't have the physical or mental energy to continue at this pace for the COVID job. This pay cycle (Thurs 9/10 to Wed 9/16) I worked 32.8 hours, which will probably be typical as a weekly total for this semester- just with a different breakdown by job (6-10 TA, 15 research, 10-15 COVID). This coming week I'm scheduled right up against the 40-hour limit, with 39.6. And yes, I do bill my time answering questions at 2:30 AM, I just put it on my timecard as a more normal time lol

2020.09.14 17:13 blackcovercuddles 28 [M4F] Queens, NY looking to date outside of my race

Hi , hello
I am Blackcovercuddles , and i wanna get straight to the point. Im black and i want to date a white woman . I love rap/trap music . I was raised in the “hood.” I stand 6’6 and weigh about 230 lbs. My hobbies include writing , watching movies on my phone at night when i should be sleeping , surfing the internet , and spending money on things I probably shouldn’t. I work in aviation and spend a lot of time at work.
My interest of wanting to date a white woman comes from watching whats all been going on and seeing some white men and women support the black community and me personally never actually developing a relationship with any white people. Ive only ever dated in my race. I also have seen plenty of beautiful white women and never actually took my shot. I always feel like I’m out of my element. I tried dating sites and never really get any matches from white women. I would love a white woman who is open minded and would love to talk and get to know each other. We can speak a little but before we meet. I would love if you’re somewhat close to queens, NY. I want to be able to see you often and hang out a lot.

2020.09.12 20:09 weavesunlight Cheaper End Gaming PC for a newbie

What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
Extra info or particulars:
Thanks so much for the help! I am a complete newb at all of this, and a lot of the PC stuff is pretty overwhelming.

2020.09.09 23:36 lamyea01 Proof that the Prophet PBUH did split the moon

Salam,
I have been wanting to make this post for a long time.
I saw a muslim sibling on reddit discussing with a non-muslim regarding the splitting of the moon. The non-muslim said that we muslims have no evidence nor historical records of the moon splitting and our muslim sibling replied with saying that we muslims don't truly believe that the moon was split, we believe that it is metaphorical and not literal.
I do not blame them, as they may not have come across substantial proof in order to refute the non-muslim.
For this reason, I wanted to show fellow muslims the top 4 (of what I call) evidence that the moon was split by the Prophet. But before that, context:
How did the Miracle of the Splitting of the Moon occur?
The miracle of the splitting of the moon occurred before the migration to Medina (2) upon the demands of the polytheists with the permission of God and it was shown by the prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as narrated by many companions like Anas b. Malik (3), Hz. Ali, Huzayfa b. Yaman (4), Abdullah b. Mas’ud (5), Abdullah b. Abbas (6), Abdullah b. Umar (7), Abdullah b. Amr b. As (8), Jubayr b. Mut’im (9) (May Allah be pleased with all of them). (10)
Among Quraish polytheists, Walid b. Mughira, Abu Jahl. As b. Wail, As b. Hisham, Aswad b. Abdi Yaghus, Aswad b. Muttalib, Zama b. Aswad, Nadr b. Harith and others (11) said to the prophet Muhammad (PBUH):
“If you truly are a Prophet that has been appointed by Allah, then split the moon in half. Let it be in such a way that one half will appear over the Mount Abu Qubais and the other half will be seen over Mount Quayqian.”
The prophet Muhammad (PBUH) asked: “If I do it, will you become Muslims?”
The polytheists answered: “Yes, we will.”
On the 14th night, when it was full moon, the prophet Muhammad (PBUH) wanted Almighty Allah to give him the miracle which the polytheists demanded from him. (12)
When the Gabriel (AS) informed the prophet Muhammad (PBUH) that God had accepted his prayer, he announced it to the Meccans. The polytheists witnessed the splitting of the moon on the 14th night. (13)
When Almighty God let the moon split in half, one half standing over Mount Abu Qubais and the other half over Mount Quayqian, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) shouted at Muslims:
“O Abu Salama b. Abdulasad! Arqam b. Abi’l Erqam! Bear witness! (14)
And to the polytheists, he said, “Bear witness! So and so! (15)
However, the polytheists said “This is one of the spells of Abu Kabsha’s Son.” (16) “The son of Abu Kabsha cast a spell on you!” (17) They said “Muhammad cast a spell on us!” (18)
Some of them also said:
“If Muhammad had cast a spell on us then (19), He couldn’t have cast a spell on everyone! (20) Let us ask the wayfarers who came from the surrounding areas (21) if they saw what we saw.” (21)
They asked the people who came from every everywhere. (22-23)
“Yes! We also did see the moon in that state! We saw the moon as split! They informed that the moon was split. Among the people who came from everywhere and seen the moon split, there was no one who had not informed them about it. (24)
However, the polytheists rejected to be Muslims and to believe by saying: “This is a prevalent magic!” (25), they said “Abu Talib’s orphan affected the sky with his spell!” (26).

Now onto the proofs
Proof no.4: NASA
This is one of my evidence but it does have its criticisms hence it is my no.4 evidence. Brothers and sisters I highly recommend you see through this sideshow as the evidence by NASA has a lot of information that I cannot do it justice by writing it in this post: https://www.slideshare.net/mobile/huseinmhanna/did-prophet-muhammad-split-the-moon
https://youtu.be/fuoqAQM-WDE
https://youtu.be/xzsNyBbVfqY
According to muslim researchers, there are proofs of the splitting of the moon in pictures of the moon taken by NASA's missions.
After Apollo mission photographs were published of Rima Ariadaeus, the 300 km-long rift line on the surface of the Moon,[16] it was suggested by Muslims on some internet sites that this was result of the splitting mentioned in the Quran.
The surface of the moon is replete with long channels or grooves that continue to create unsolved puzzles and contradictions for geologists. Every traditional theory, when tested against photographic evidence, has failed. Planetary scientists often say that it was formed by molten lava and they draw comparisons to lava channels in Hawaii. But the differences between the two are so profound as to render such comparisons meaningless.
Rima Ariadaeus is the rille that is usually referred to as the scar of the split that happened as a miracle of the Prophet PBUH, show clearly that it's a relatively small scar on the face of the moon and doesn't extend across the length of the moon as one would expect.
In 2010, NASA scientist Brad Bailey was asked about this and replied "My recommendation is to not believe everything you read on the internet. Peer-reviewed papers are the only scientifically valid sources of information out there. No current scientific evidence reports that the Moon was split into two (or more) parts and then reassembled at any point in the past."
Does this mean the split never happen? Does that disprove the miracle?
Even though the pictures can not be used as a strong evidence of the miracle that happened in the 7th century A.D. yet there's still no conclusive explanation to the origins of the structures in question.
Proof no.3: Authenticated Hadiths
Abdullah ibn Mas’ud reported: The moon split when we were with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and it became two separate pieces. The Prophet said to us, “Bear witness. Bear witness.”

Muttafaqun Alayi: When the Hadith Masters use this term, it means that the Hadith in question is found in both books; Sahih Bukhari & Sahih Muslim, on the authority of the same Sahabi (radiyallahu’anhu) even if there exists variation in the wording.
Authenticated hadiths are a good historical record as Al-Bukhari used rigorous means to verify and authenticate the hadiths. To us muslims, these are substantial pieces of record that prove the event of the moon splitting.
Proof no.2: Other historical records
The Mayans recorded the miracle!
https://web.archive.org/web/20111028081146/http://www.mayalords.org/restfldpersia.html
At the top of page 139 in the 1997 Maya Hieroglyphic Forum, the dot and bar numbers have been inserted as corrections for the tops of the other columns (missing in V and K's works). On the basis of the number sequences, the date of the first (and, what I am surmising, was the original change) is 9.9.9.16.0 or the Gregorian date of 9 February 623 (the Julian date calculated the 6th of February, that same year).
But, if one reads the Rabbit and the Mirror, one will see, that not only was the rabbit a new addition to the home of the moon goddess, but also the cosmic tree (probably the Milky Way) was new. Being held up to the mirror, the rabbit is shown where it was then (now) located, not how it was born. In agreement with that statement is vase K2772. It shows the same three women as in the so-called birth scene, but instead of a pregnant woman with two midwives, it shows that the palace of the moon is being shaken by a quake, indicated by the same "question mark" curls found in the ears of the split-faced moon rabbit and identified by Eric Thompson as a symbol of the Moon Goddess glyphs. This "quake" or catastrophe is well recorded world-wide, even in Peru as the Rebellion of the Artifacts. The rabbit arrives later to view, in the mirror, the new star arrangement of the skies
The rabbit replaced the monkey (possibly the old north star?) As the records of time and became a very important figure with the same split face of the moon, with a the same question mark curl in each ear. And later (K1491) where the rabbit waits for the monkey to finish his final work.
Indians saw the miracle too!
Of interest in relation to the moon splitting an Indian historical manuscript (India Office Library, London, manuscript #2807/152-173), which says that this incident was observed by the Indian king of Malibar, Chakrawati Farmas- was the starting point of Islam spreading to India. It was also mentioned in the book "Muhammad Rasulullah," by M. Hamidullah.
On a moon-lit night the Indian King Chakrawati, while walking on the rooftop of his palace along with the queen saw the moon suddenly splitting into two halves. Later he came to know through Arab traders that a prophet called Muhammad PBUH had wrought a miracle on that fateful night and sundered the moon before the crowd of dazed spectators.
Learning on inquiry that there was a prediction of the coming if a Messenger of God from Arabia, he appointed his son as regent and set out to meet him. He embraced Islam at the hand of the Prophet.
The king died on his way back to India but wrote letters to the local rulers of Malabar to "help construct mosques at Kodungallur and elsewhere". The rulers of Kerala honoured his wishes and built mosques in the early 7th century, one of them being Cheraman Malik Masjid at Kodungallur, said to be one of the oldest in the sub-continent.
Travellers from Syria and Yemen also witnessed the splitting of the moon that night!
Narrated by Anas ibn Malik (Al-Bukhari)
"The Makkan people requested Allah's messenger to show them a miracle, and so he showed them the splitting of the moon.
At this point, some of the wise men explained that magic could only affect the attendees whereas it cannot maintain influence on everybody in general. They waited for travellers who were coming back from their journeys. The pagans hurried up to the borders of Mecca in anticipation to meet the travellers.
When the first arrivals appeared, they asked them did you see anything extraordinary happened to the moon?
The travellers answered 'yes, on one night we saw the moon splitting into two parts which remained asunder for some time then reattached.'
Upon this statement, a number of the group believed while the rest remained pagans.
But I have heard people say, especially ex-muslims, "this is hocus pocus, if Muhammad PBUH did split the moon, then why didnt the Europeans record it? After all, the Roman empire was still around. It's hard to believe that if the moon was split, why more people wouldn't record such phenomena"
This is easily explained with this case study:
At the beginning of the 20th century, people lived with the well-established idea of a static universe where the motion of stars never varies. This is probably due to Aristotle's teachings, stating that the sky is immutable, unlike Earth, which is perishable. This idea caused a historical anomaly:
in 1054, the Chinese noticed the appearance of new light in the sky, but no European document mentions it!
Yet it could be seen in full daylight and lasted for several weeks.
It was a supernova, that is, a dying star, the remnants of which can still be seen as the Crab Nebula. Predominant thought in Europe prevented people from accepting a phenomenon that so utterly contradicted the idea of an unchanging sky. A supernova is a very rare event, which can only be observed by the naked eye once a century. The most recent one dates back to 1987. So Aristotle was almost right in thinking that the sky was unchanging - on the scale of a human life at least.
This article can be found here: https://theconversation.com/einsteins-two-mistakes-139003
If the Europeans were unwilling to document a supernova in 1054, what makes you think they would be even more willing to document in the 7th century?
Subhan'Allah, we are now at our last proof of the splitting of the moon:
Proof no.1: The Qur'an
Almighty God mentions this miracle in the chapter of al-Qamar 1-5 as follows:
“The hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and The moon is cleft asunder.
But if they see a Sign, they turn away, and say "This is (but) transient magic."
They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time.
There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them),
Mature wisdom― but (the preaching of) Warners profits them not.” (27)
How does this show that the miracle occurred?
Well, the Quran is telling us the the Prophet split the moon, but the disbelievers said that it was magic.
Remember, this verse wasn't preached once, recorded and never preached again. The Prophet repeatedly preached this exact verse to his followers and the non-muslims for decades. The non-muslims never refuted this verse!
The people that aren't even muslims, the paganists, NEVER SAID THAT THE MOON WASN'T SPLIT!!!!!
Even Al-Tabari, the one who wrote down whatever rumour he heard, the one who wrote down about the rumours of the Satanic Verses, NEVER wrote down anywhere that the pagans did not see the moon split.
The pagans saw the moon split and said "oh, it's just MAGIC!"
Never did they say "huh? A split moon? Never occured. Fake news"
Subhan'Allah, the biggest proof of the moon splitting isn't even from the muslims, but the non-muslims. They are the ones who authenticated the verse by claiming Allah did not allow Muhammad PBUH to split the moon, Muhammad PBUH performed magic! They are the witnesses of the miracles!
Allahu Akbar! The Qur'an is the biggest miracle and historical record we have of the moon splitting!
The Holy Quran is a miracle by itself, and a book full of all sorts of miracles. We as muslims should wholeheartedly have faith in the Quran and not attempt to explain scientific miracles of the Quran in a way that does harm the credibility of the holy book.
There is no need to exaggerate certain evidences to make them fit some facts mentioned in the Quran.
Until recently, a lot of the scientific facts in the Quran were in contradiction with the scientific theories at the time. Yet this never meant that the science is right and the Quran was wrong.
In many cases, new discoveries proved the old theories wrong and the Quran right (like the expansion of the universe for example.)
In other cases, our interpretation of the Quranic verses was wrong.
Either way, as a Muslim, the Quran's credibility is above any doubt. So as Muslims, hold the Quran over your own beliefs as nothing is as perfect as the Holy Quran.
I hope you found this interesting. Insha'Allah these are enough proofs of the miracle.

2020.09.09 23:22 lamyea01 Proving that the Prophet PBUH did split the moon

Salam,
I have been wanting to make this post for a long time.

Thank you to all who have replied. I am grateful that you have taken the time to read this.
I just want to clarify, I intended to write this post mainly for my muslim brothers and sisters. This miracle is one of the miracles that is associated with the Prophet PBUH but I know that a lot of muslims may have a hard time believing in its authenticity.
If I could make non-muslims interested in the deen, that would be great Alhamdulillah. However, this post is not directed at non-muslims, hence I used a lot of islamic articles as my target audience was my fellow brothers and sisters.
Insha'Allah, what I call proofs may not be proofs for many, including muslims but for me, these are the reasons in why I believe that the moon splitting miracle is authentic and real.
Take care and have a great day, salam!
Not only that, but many people have asked and enquired about the historical records from other civilisations and its validity, as well as why I even included proof no.4 when NASA themselves have said that they don't believe the moon was split in the past. Here is a comment I made that will address these concerns:

2020.09.08 17:07 intellectualgulf The Miseducation of the American People

This is a theory that I will be working on until I figure out if it is accurate or not. Y'know, how the scientific process is supposed to be applied.
The theory is this: The american people have been purposefully miseducated for generations and the bizarre backwards behavior we see today is a symptom of this miseducation.
Whether or not the GOP is mainly responsible, whether this miseducation was politically aligned / inspired seems like a very important question given Nixon's presidency. Nixon is however just a symptom of a disease, and that disease is misinformation. The miseducation of the American people has been occurring for at least 100 years, but most likely has been ongoing since the founding of the country. Unfortunately freedom of speech protects liars, but that is the price we pay for democracy.
Misinformation is a human disease, and is directly responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of American citizens in 2020 alone. Trump appointed Jared Kushner, an uneducated unqualified man, to lead a Covid Task force AND Jared Kushner showed why being uneducated is dangerous, since he decided Covid would magically hurt democrats more than republicans.
I appear to be picking on Trump, but my theory is that conservatives of every color are to blame for this miseducation. It may be unfair to lay the blame entirely at the feet of conservative political parties, but we still can't have rational public debates about social policy without one of the miseducated screaming about communism.
The average american has no idea what socialism is and only vaguely understands it to be a dangerous / bad system of governance that opposing superpowers have historically claimed to follow. https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2019/10/07/in-their-own-words-behind-americans-views-of-socialism-and-capitalism/
The issue with this miseducation is it prevents reasonable logical debate. Of course any purely socialist society would fail, we are not a cooperative species. Any "true" form of government will fail when applied to humans because we are not rational or logical animals. We will inevitably smear everything in sight with feces and claim we have improved the world.
Miseducation has led to the average american not understanding how governments function at a fundamental level. A government is a group of people who agree to a set of rules that direct acceptable or unacceptable behavior, who organize around these rules, and who contribute resources to the group fund to support the enforcement of those rules. Every government is socialist since the definition of socialism is group ownership, and democratic governments are group owned. All guaranteed services provided by a government are group owned, and anyone who claims the government should not provide guaranteed services should leave since that is exactly what our founding fathers wanted it to be.
I'll repeat that last bit for clarity, the founding fathers intentionally created a group owned government to provide guaranteed services which include the postal service. If you consider yourself an "American" and believe that privatizing government services is a good idea, then you do not understand your government. This is reasonable given that many people were taught complete falsehoods before the internet came along, and many more falsehoods have been propagated by charlatans via the internet.
The only reason we can even tell that a massive amount of miseducation occurred in the United States is because so many of those people are very loud. The internet acts as a permanent record, and despite active revisionism / ongoing miseducation it still provides a clear view of the miseducation.
Each administration that chooses to use misinformation as a political weapon / tool ultimately damages the United States of America as they progressively weaken the citizens faith in truth. The american people at this point in time continue to act illogically despite access to the entirety of human knowledge at their fingertips. This is because the average American has been taught that Science and truth are not the same, and that "science" cannot be trusted to protect their interests. It does not matter that "their interests" are given to them by politicians who have shown an inability to think rationally or scientifically, since this is what they have been taught to accept.
This is yet another symptom of the disease, as people who otherwise are not mentally deficient make completely irrational or illogical choices / behaviors, such as continuing to elect corrupt and incompetent leaders.
The claims by Trump and other "modern" conservatives that the United States is or ever was intended to be a Christian nation is common. It really shouldn't be commonly held or believed since it is patently false, but it is another symptom of the disease of misinformation which is propagated in the United States through miseducation.

History
The original Department of Education was created in 1867 to collect information on schools and teaching that would help the States establish effective school systems. While the agency's name and location within the Executive Branch have changed over the past 130 years, this early emphasis on getting information on what works in education to teachers and education policymakers continues down to the present day.
The passage of the Second Morrill Act in 1890 gave the then-named Office of Education responsibility for administering support for the original system of land-grant colleges and universities. Vocational education became the next major area of Federal aid to schools, with the 1917 Smith-Hughes Act and the 1946 George-Barden Act focusing on agricultural, industrial, and home economics training for high school students.
World War II led to a significant expansion of Federal support for education. The Lanham Act in 1941 and the Impact Aid laws of 1950 eased the burden on communities affected by the presence of military and other Federal installations by making payments to school districts. And in 1944, the "GI Bill" authorized postsecondary education assistance that would ultimately send nearly 8 million World War II veterans to college.
The Cold War stimulated the first example of comprehensive Federal education legislation, when in 1958 Congress passed the National Defense Education Act (NDEA) in response to the Soviet launch of Sputnik. To help ensure that highly trained individuals would be available to help America compete with the Soviet Union in scientific and technical fields, the NDEA included support for loans to college students, the improvement of science, mathematics, and foreign language instruction in elementary and secondary schools, graduate fellowships, foreign language and area studies, and vocational-technical training.
The anti-poverty and civil rights laws of the 1960s and 1970s brought about a dramatic emergence of the Department's equal access mission. The passage of laws such as Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 which prohibited discrimination based on race, sex, and disability, respectively made civil rights enforcement a fundamental and long-lasting focus of the Department of Education. In 1965, the Elementary and Secondary Education Act launched a comprehensive set of programs, including the Title I program of Federal aid to disadvantaged children to address the problems of poor urban and rural areas. And in that same year, the Higher Education Act authorized assistance for postsecondary education, including financial aid programs for needy college students.
In 1980, Congress established the Department of Education as a Cabinet level agency. Today, ED operates programs that touch on every area and level of education. The Department's elementary and secondary programs annually serve nearly 18,200 school districts and over 50 million students attending roughly 98,000 public schools and 32,000 private schools. Department programs also provide grant, loan, and work-study assistance to more than 12 million postsecondary students.
When formulating this theory I was focused on education in the 1950s and later, but I am revising this theory as I read more. I think the best way to identify the miseducation will be to find writings that survived the shifts in belief. To suggest to one of Jefferson's contemporaries that he wanted religion involved with the United States government would have gotten you laughed out of the room. Jefferson was not above using the law to support his personal beliefs, but we have his letters with Madison where they congratulate one another on keeping religion out of the government [see comments].
I bring this up as it is a MAJOR point for conservatives despite being clearly historically wrong.

Anyone who ascribes to believes in made up history is one of the miseducated.
20200915 - "The white man's burden"
In February 1899, British novelist and poet Rudyard Kipling wrote a poem entitled “The White Man’s Burden: The United States and The Philippine Islands.”
I had hoped I would need to search further than this to find my evidence, as if all the evidence is laying about like this it is a wonder no one else stumbled upon it before.
"The White Man's Burden" had a clear historical impact, and yet most people alive now would refuse to believe that their great great grandparent, great grandparent, or grandparent was assuredly raised with (and most likely promoted) Racist views.
This poem influenced the future) US President Theodore Roosevelt and Global Policy as a result: http://historymatters.gmu.edu/d/5478/
We see contemporary refutations by famous figures such as Mark Twain, that were clearly ignored in favor of the "White Man" which in the USA was quite literal. "Predestination" was the idea that White Christians were beloved by God, and that God had made the world for White Men to rule".
This was such a common theme in those days that it was used to literally steal land from the natives. Really good evidence of how effective Christianity is as a moral spine to humanity in my thinking.
Just look at President Jackson's Message to Congress "On Indian Removal", December 6, 1830;
https://www.nps.gov/museum/tmc/MANZ/handouts/Andrew_Jackson_Annual_Message.pdf
We must admit that not just some, but most of our forefather's were selfish and racist people who had been indoctrinated by their conservative peers and teachers.
The reason I bring this poem up specifically is I found it in a Biology textbook. Which Biology textbook? Why only one of the most famous textbooks in history that no one remembers,:
A Civic Biology: Presented in Problems (usually referred to as just Civic Biology) was a biology textbook written by George William Hunter, published in 1914
http://www.gutenberg.org/files/39969/39969-h/39969-h.htm
Excerpt from The Economic Value of Trees. Protection and Regulation of Water Supply. : "It was such a strange, tremendous story, that of the Greek Poseidonia, later the Roman Pæstum. Long ago those adventuring mariners from Greece had seized the fertile plain, which at that time was covered with forests of great oak and watered by two clear and shining rivers. They drove the Italian natives back into the distant hills, for the white man's burden even then included the taking of all the desirable things that were being wasted by incompetent natives, and they brought over colonists—whom the philosophers and moralists at home maligned, no doubt, in the same pleasant fashion of our own day. And the colonists cut down the oaks, and plowed the land, and built cities, and made harbors, and finally dusted their busy hands and busy souls of the grime of labor and wrought splendid temples in honor of the benign gods who had given them the possessions of the Italians and filled them with power and fatness. "
Now one instance doesn't make a pattern, but that is clearly not a scientific phrase. Why is this Biology textbook, which was used to force schools to teach science, reinforcing a view that was known at the time to be wrong? Not only was this view known to be wrong, it had been known for at least 50 years.
At this point we can just accept that Christianity was only used as a way to excuse horrendous treatment of "savages", and that the people alive at the time knew this was true. The supporters of predestination at the time most likely were as vehement in their correctness as the neo-nazis of now.
So what is the picture I am painting? Why is this not in chronological order?
I am going to show you that not only is there a constant theme of "denying reality" among conservatives in the United States, but that it was purposeful refutation of correct information (truth).
Andrew Jackson did not consider the native population as human:
"And is it supposed that the wandering savage has a stronger attachment to his home than the settled, civilized Christian? Is it more afflicting to him to leave the graves of his fathers than it is to our brothers and children? Rightly considered, the policy of the General Government toward the red man is not only liberal, but generous. He is unwilling to submit to the laws of the States and mingle with their population. To save him from this alternative, or perhaps utter annihilation, the General Government kindly offers him a new home, and proposes to pay the whole expense of his removal and settlement."
I can say Jackson didn't consider "the red man" as human, because despite this claim that the "red man" would be relocated and all costs covered Jackson would end up authorizing the murder of many natives during his presidency. Just look at how Jackson promoted an incorrect view of the Native American people being "wandering savages" with no connection to the land.
"Whatabout" arguments bring up questions of "ownership", inheritance of land among Native American Tribes, and wars among the Tribes just before the "settling" of the Americas. My counter to this is the same as always, according to your logic if I want your house I just need to prove you haven't owned it "very long".
This argument is at its core insisting that the ownership of a landmass depends on how recently the government on that landmass changed leadership. The fact is that the native American people had been living on the continent without european intervention for at least 1,000 years:
Just for example he Connestee people, believed to be ancestors of the Cherokee, occupied western North Carolina circa 200 to 600 CE https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cherokee
This means that the Cherokee have a stronger claim to England than the English according to the "recent ownership theory", since the people the English descended from didn't arrive in England until after 400 CE: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anglo-Saxon_settlement_of_Britain
Honestly if you or anyone you know believes the ridiculously common conservative argument, please point out to them that based on the concept of ownership being based on time spent in a region, the Native American people owned half the world before the English stood up their bastion of failing Rome in the United Kingdom. Not only that, but the Native American people had a rich history that quite literally was all but destroyed between the 16th and 18th centuries.
Jesus H Christ, if you want to see even more proof that we have simply trained ourselves to be idiotic, look at this History Channel Page that supposedly tells the timeline of the Native American People: https://www.history.com/topics/native-american-history/native-american-timeline
It starts in 1492! That is not a history of the native american people, that is a history of European interaction with the Native American People's. This is a perfect example of how our common knowledge and supposed history is just conservative garbage.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Native_Americans_in_the_United_States
Looking at the actual Wikipedia page (look out for conservative Christian revisionism), we see that the people who populated the American continents lived there for millenia. "Western Christian Civilization" wasn't even a shitstain in homo sapiens diaper when the American continents were fully settled and replete with grand empires.
Not only did Jackson purposefully mis-inform the American people about the selfishness and evil of the "Indian Removal Act", but he used similar misinformation tactics to disguise other political agendas:
" Mexico, having for six years carried on against Texas a marauding war only, and that upon the most savage principles, inconsistant with all principles of civilised warfare, and against which all civilised nations which have acknowledged the Independence of Texas ought to unite, and by peaceful means, if it could, put it down, and if this could not be obtained peaceably, then all civillised and christian powers are bound to unite upon christian principle to put an end to this savage and inhuman war. The United States having been the first nation that acknowledged Texian Independence, are we not bound to be the first to boldly step forward to put an end to this savage maurading war. I think so. Texas harassed, and her means of war limitted presents herself to the united states to be annexed to, and protected by the United States. There being no embodied army marching against Texas for reconquest, great Britain trying to obtain the Liberation of the slaves in Texas for the avowed purpose of coercing the south and west into this measure by destroying the vallue of this property and opening a way for our slaves to run away to Texas, is [it] not time for the south and west to take the alarm, and as Texas has presented herself for voluntary annexation, which at once shuts the door against this impending evil, and secures Neworleans in case of a war with England, can it be, could it be, that any one could seriously suppose that the whole south and west would not unite upon this important subject, and with one voice cry out annexation. "
"I am very feeble, but excited by the subject, mortified at Mr. V.B. letter and Col. Bentons, for their is no evidence of ever the time being more propitious than the present, the necessitous situation of Texas, the prospects of the encouragement posponement will give to Mexico, with the secrete aid of great Britain and the consequences, makes my tears flow with regret. Texas may feel herself insulted and neglected by the refusal of the U. States and make a treaty with great Britain ruinous to the south west and to the safety of the Union, when we will have to fight both great Britain and mexico—on such an event what curses must fall upon all who refused to receive Texas."
It's almost like Andrew Jackson was a Racist, who while opposed / refuted by some of his contemporaries, the average American clearly supported Predestination.
It is no wonder that with this amount misinformation use already present by the 7th President we see a President today who does nothing but lie. Since conservatives value Opinion over Truth we can no longer trust anything that they claim, and we shouldn't have been letting these views infect out people for this long to begin with.

Special Interest Groups Damaged our Government:

This should be a perfectly reasonable debate with no partisanship or issues of religion / emotion (/s).
This is going to be a shit show, just be prepared.
Academics have almost universally responded poorly to this hypothesis, that the American People have been Miseducated for Generations.
It is quite possible that the misinformation campaigns which turned our nation into an "Idiocracy" were not exclusive to education centers.
Searching through the NY Times you can find many examples of Christian special interest groups attacking politicians for failing to align with their goals:
1832 Wig Paper lauding the destruction of Irish Culture- Constitutional Whig. [volume], September 28, 1824
1841 Indiana State sentinel. [volume], October 19, 1841: 1841 anti-irish sentiment

Textbooks which Promoted Conservative Christian Political Goals

1842 - The Religious instruction of the Negroes in the United States
ORIGIN on THE AMERICAN INDIANS. Hence it seems, at first glance, almost impossible that it should have been reached, in an age when ships Were small‘ and frail, when the mariner’s compass was unknown and the sailor dared not trust himself out of sight of land. This led men to suppose that the inhabitants of America did not descend from Adam and Eve, but from a race previously created. Such a theory’ is plainly contrary to the Bible record, nor is it needed to account for the settlement of America. .8. Later discoveries have brought to light a fact unknown to geographers three hundred years ago, that America wi- dens rapidly in the north, and there juts out into the ocean till it comes within thirty-six ‘miles of Asia. , As a current sets -towards the American shore, the passage thither can be readily made even in rude vessels. Boats may have been driven over by stress of weather, and the continent thus have been discovered without design. But there was a still‘ easier means of communication. In severe seasons, ,Behring’s Strait is frozen over. , ‘Many varieties of animals have passed on the ice from one continent to the other; and the first occupants of America, led by curiosity, or driven by violence,- may have reached the new world in the same manner. 9. At what time this event took place, we are not informed. History makes no mention of it. It is probable that it occurred at an early date, not many centuries after the dispersion at Babel and the consequent emigration from the plain of Shi’nar.
1875 Analysis of Civil Government
There is little need of comment "on this clause‘‘.‘‘ No “man can Well doubt the propriety of placing a President of the" United States’ under the most solemn obligations to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution. It is "a suitable ‘pledge of his fidelity and responsibility to his 'country', and creates upon his conscience a deep ‘sense duty, by an appeal at once, in the presence of God and man, to the most sacred and solemn sanctions Which can operate upon the human mind
Oath. A solemn aflirmation or declaration, before a competent tribunal or ofiieer, to tell the truth, appealing to God for the truth of what is asserted.
1875 - Politics for young adults
TO PARENTS AND TEACHERS. to be a good citizen of the United States one ought to be imbued with the spirit of Christianity, and to believe in and act upon the teachings of Jesus. He condemned self-seeking, covetousness, hypocrisy, class distinctions, envy, malice, undue and ignoble ambition
Old textbooks:
ATTITUDES REVEALED IN SUBJECT MATTER Since geography textbooks dealt extensively with people and customs, the opportunity was great for authors to reveal their attitudes regarding the various peoples and their ways of living. In many geographies, especially in the earlier ones, the content revealed that the attitudes of the authors were often biased. Religious Attitudes. The earliest geographies were written when our country was still dominantly Protestant and the academic leaders were either trained as ministers or at least deeply religious. J edidiah Morse and Elijah Parish were both Congregational ministers. Not even all Protestant groups were equally respected. For example, in the first American written geography, Morse in 1784 referred to the Presbyterians and Lutherans as “numerous and respectable.” Parish, in enumerating the religious groups, began with small letters the words Baptists, Methodists, Quakers, and Catholics, but began with capital letters Presbyterian, Congregationalists, and Lutherans. ‘ Many of the early books particularly contained unfavorable comments about other religions than Protestants. Morse in his 1790 edition referred to Roman Catholicism in Spain as “of most bigoted, superstitious, and tyrannical character.” Dwight (1806), Parish (1810), and Adams (1818) used the term “Pop- ery” in referring to Roman Catholicism. Davies (1805) claimed that the priests in Ireland ruled with “blind superstition and ignorance.” Many other early geographies contained similar statements. Later several geography textbooks were written by Catholic
GEOGRAPHIES Q13 authors which were equally biased against Protestantism. Among these were texts by Pinnock (1853) and Sadlier (1880). The latter, in referring to religious conditions in Ireland, said: England abandoned the Catholic faith in the 16th century, and to this country belongs the ignoble distinction of having oppressed and persecuted the Irish nation with a barbarity unparalleled in the history of man’s inhumanity to man. Most Protestant authors referred to the Protestants in Euro- pean countries with respect. Parish (1810) said, “The Scotch clergy are men of learning and piety.” Woodbridge (1835) said, in referring to the Scots, “They are remarkable for knowledge and morality, produced by their numerous schools, and their at- tention to public worship.” In referring to non-Christian religions, likewise, uncompli- mentary statements were often made. A number of authors re- ferred to Mahomet as an “imposter.” Morse (1800) wrote: “In a word, the contagion spread over Arabia, Syria, Egypt, and Persia; Mahomet, from a deceitful hypocrite, became the most powerful monarch in his time.” Warren in 1872 referred to Mohammed as a “false prophet.” Uncomplimentary statements were also made about the religions in Japan and India. Reform Attitudes. The teaching of religion and morality was really the chief aim of education in early American schools. This aim was even dominant. in geography textbooks. Thus many forms of behavior which the authors considered immoral were severely condemned. Alcohol. Morse (1790) believed “in proportion as the use of beer increases, in the same proportion will the use of spiritous liquors decrease. This will be a happy exchange.” Parish (1810) condemned the “numerous Taverns,” and “grogshops.” Several condemned the sale of liquors to Indians.

2020.09.07 04:48 salmonjacket_5 RS & Ashley Spivey IG Live Recap

Hi everyone-here’s the recap/highlights of the weekly IG live between RS & Ashley Spivey. As mentioned in my previous posts, I am only recapping the Bachelor Franchise related topics. They also discussed RS & his fantasy football draft-the live started early because of it, Ashley’s hair, Cobra Kai, a larger conversation about social media, & life before cell phones/internet. I tagged this post as spoilers to be safe-there isn't anything that I would necessarily consider a spoiler, but I know not everyone has the same definition of spoiler.
· Discussed the “worst kept secret in Bachelor Nation”-Garrett & Becca officially breaking up. Ashley thought Becca sounded very sad & she does not take pride in them breaking up-nothing about the situation makes her happy. Thinks breakups are always hard, but Becca can do better-and she won’t celebrate a breakup. Mentioned the comments on Garrett’s picture-makes Ashley want to vomit. RS thinks in general with Bachelor breakups-thinks people who apply to be on the show are starting to lose sight of how much privacy you lose by having a relationship on the show. RS wants to tell people to keep in mind that even if you think you’re just going on the show to have fun-if you become a relevant figure everything you do goes under a microscope & people forget that. Ashley mentions how easy it is to be caught up in the bubble of the show & thinking that with support of everyone behind them-you can make the relationship work, but once you get into a non-show life & delve deeper, issues that didn’t matter in the house become harder to work through. Ashley thinks Becca thought she could have either changed Garrett or shed light on why she feels the way she does & have influence on him, but with everything going on in the world was too much for their relationship. RS doesn’t expect much more on the reasons why they broke up. RS asks Ashley if she thinks it is weird that Garrett hasn’t said anything about the breakup as with pretty much every other couple both released something. She is not surprised- brings up that Trump supporters tend to hate liberals/democrats, and maybe he has taken that stance towards Becca. RS thinks he should at least acknowledge the relationship ending & it’s kind of a dick move. Ashley thinks that if Garrett doesn’t mention anything, he will still receive his money/endorsement-and there is no incentive for him to talk about this. RS thinks Garrett not responding seems like bitterness-and thinks he can take the time to post something-even a very generic statement. RS says it’s okay to admit that it sucks the relationship ended-and if he doesn’t feel that way, then he’s cold-hearted. Ashley thinks maybe this is insight into his personality-brings up the posts during her grandpa’s funeral. RS brings up how his posting hasn’t changed-maybe if he was posting nothing, then that is a different story.
· RS brought up that he heard a month & a half/two months ago that Becca was looking for a place-was in the San Diego area, but ended up being LA, but did not mention Garrett-was for 1 person plus a dog. RS thinks she wasn’t going to mention it until she had a place-which is why RS mentioned that he thought she was waiting until she had things more settled-as there were probably a lot of things to take care of. Ashley speculates she may have already started to move on a bit-mentioned her IG story about a cute guy while walking Minno. That fits with them being over a while ago but waiting to have things lined up.
·Viewers brought up that Becca broke up with Garrett because of Rachel. Both RS & Ashley disagree with them-they didn’t break up because of Rachel-Becca can do what she wants. They do think that Rachel would not have made comments about Garrett if they weren’t already broken up. RS also thinks that we don’t need a reason why they broke up-no matter what they say, people will still think what they want.
· RS has no tea to spill-he thinks he knows who the final 4 are & who Tayshia picked, but wants more confirmation. He’s still finalizing the guys-who showed up for Clare, who showed up for Tayshia, & who Clare eliminated. RS may not have the date by date breakdown, but will have the list of guys narrowed down. He thinks Tayshia & Clare are both with someone-is not 100% sure on the engagement part for either. RS thinks Life & Style wouldn’t get the engagement part wrong-but it is possible-uses him with Colton/Cassie as an example.
· RS is hearing the tabloid narrative of how things went is not what actually happened. Thinks the show went to Clare/Dale to ask them what they want to do. It wasn’t a situation of Clare not wanting to go on a date, or saying that she didn’t want to continue the show. Mentions it’s a two-way street, just because Clare may have wanted Dale from the beginning & meeting him confirmed her feelings, that doesn’t mean that Dale felt the same way about Clare once he met her.
· RS brings up the question of did the show know they may need a backup plan? RS thinks the producers probably knew that Dale was a front runner-brings up it was the first time a lead knew who the contestants were. Because Tayshia was there & filming never stopped-it leads you to believe that maybe the show knew this was a possibility. Ashley thinks it was planned to an extent-they knew Clare had a thing for Dale, & they may need a backup plan. RS brings up there wouldn’t necessarily be anything wrong with mentioning they had a backup plan.
· RS brings up the promos that focus on respect & how people think that Clare isn’t showing respect to her guys by focusing on just one guy after two weeks. RS thinks that is premature to say until we see the show-brings up if your point on the show is that all we get is drama, with no love stories. If you get a love story-why are you complaining, that’s what you wanted. RS & Ashley bring up that people seem to want Clare/Dale to fail-without having ever seen them on TV. They bring up that people think it’s fixed/they spoke beforehand-RS reiterates that isn’t what he is hearing, along with the comments from Dale’s sister. Ashley brings up that most leads focus in on certain people-which is why they are miserable at the end.
· The topic of falling in love/getting engaged quickly comes up in relation to Clare/Dale-Clare’s engagement after Winter Games came up-the person who mentioned it in the comment had the timeframe wrong on when they got engaged which help start this conversation. Jade & Tanner are brought up as the exception, not the rule in most cases. Most of the time those relationships do not work out. They mentioned all the relationships that didn’t work-specific to paradise, and there are far more that didn’t than did.
· RS could go ahead with what he has, but still wants more confirmation. He heard a while back who the two front runners were for Tayshia when there were around 8-10 guys left-and thinks that is who she chose.
· RS reminds people to not compare the ratings of this season to other seasons-uses the Kentucky Derby as an example-it is the same race that changed their date & lost 50% of their normal viewership.
· They mention the new promo-RS did not know who Keke Palmer is-he thought she was a Real Housewife & won the Masked Singer-it was quite comical. Ashley doesn’t know much more-but at least she knew who she was. Ashley knows her from the Dick Cheney video of “I don’t know this man” They overall like the promo-but RS got a ton of messages about people being confused by Clare being in the promos-thinks there are people who read the headlines about Tayshia replacing Clare-and just assumed Clare isn’t getting a season
· RS/Ashley thinks ABC is just trolling us at this point by not acknowledging Tayshia as the Bachelorette. Mention the promos aren’t even hinting anything about the switch. Ashley jokes there should be a where’s waldo of Tayshia in the promos.
· Juan Pablo’s tweet- RS didn’t understand it. Read it a few times & he read it as Juan Pablo is taking a shot at the show-as in why are they still showing stuff about him. RS knows he is not part of the GOAT episode of his season.
· RS Podcast questions- a viewer asks about having Shawn Booth as a guest. RS has never asked him-mentions he doesn’t do a ton of interviews/stays quiet about the show
· Trolling of Kaitlyn-both think it’s hard to read & RS mentions again that everything you do in under a microscope & everything you post will likely get a negative comment, you have to realize while there are some great things you get, there are a ton of negatives too. Especially if you are a female-you should expect to receive negative comments from trolls. Brings up how Kaitlyn got a ton of positive things from the show-and even she feels terrible because of trolls. Ashley brings up how most comments are positive-but there are those days where they will hit you a certain way. Ultimately people need to stop being dicks on social media-instead of trying to avoid the comments by blocking, or turning off comments, or not reading them. Ashley brings up even watching yourself back on TV-you get critical about yourself & then read comments from others that affect you. Ashley thinks when you acknowledge the trolls, they only get louder. And that people may comment with a negative comment to get a response from people. RS & Ashley thinks social media sucks-but that there are some good things that can come from it.
· Matt season’s will start filming in the 1st week of October-they will fly people out at the end of September to quarantine. RS also has had multiple people tell him that the resort is also calling people & telling them that their events are cancelled because of the show-but are saying it’s because of Covid as the show hasn’t officially announced it is filming there. They are giving people refunds if your wedding party/guests are booked to stay there-but there are no hotels near the resort to have their guests stay. Ashley feels bad for them-but says people shouldn’t be having big weddings right now.
· Nick’s Patreon-Ashley & Nick did not watch but have no interest. Ashley mentions people seems to be enjoying it. RS has no interest in anything Nick says.
· Peter’s final 4 going on vacation-RS thinks they are attention seekers. Ashley brought up VF, Victoria P & Natasha going from LA to NY & then traveling to the Hamptons-Ashley mentions that although they said they got tested for Covid, it can take a while for you to test positive, so you can’t assume that if you test negative that you don’t have Covid. It pisses Ashely off if you aren’t going to quarantine if you come to NY. They are another example of people not quarantining. RS brings up PeteKelley as another example. Ashley wishes influencers would use their platforms to show the proper way to do these things.
